Tbh I bought these books (yes the whole series) because of the cover upsi… but can you blame me? I kinda knew it wouldn’t be as deep as other books and I’m fine with that. Sometimes you just need a lightheaded book. Although to some degree it wasn’t because they were mentioning trauma. Though I kinda wished they would’ve dived deeper. Both characters are unique. Both deal with what they went through. Both found something in each other. But both of them knew they needed to heal in order to have a healthy relationship. I enjoyed reading it, I enjoyed their banter and bickering (I guess I’m a sucker for that lol). Still it could’ve been a little deeper. If you want a quite steamy romance w a wildfire fighter then you should definitely go for it ;)

My very first Firefighter Romance but i was sat. Seated. Immediately from the very first page on. When I tell you I DEVOURED this book. At first the writing style or the words were a bit difficult to understand (I’m not a native english speaker) but it soon got a lot better. I flew through the pages and became completely absorbed in the book emotionally. The story itself was interesting and never lost its tension. It was constantly gripping and exciting. The story building was perfectly executed - especially the build-up and the plottwist. I would have appreciated a bit more slow burn and firefighter activity tho. I loved Callahan right away. I could easily empathise with his feelings and thoughts. Also his way with Scottie? He was always reassuring und supportive. Such a green flag and a gentleman (and as if that weren’t enough, he’s SO fine and has a dirty mouth). With Scottie on the other hand I found it hard sometimes to fully empathise with her - nonetheless her story touched me deeply and left me stunned. Still the story could have done with more depth and detail regarding Callahan and Scottie's backstories/ traumas. The two main characters and their backstories were described in a rather superficial manner, so their individual development felt a bit flat.

I really enjoyed this book. The firefighter aspect felt a little underdeveloped to me, but everything else was fantastic! The forced proximity and Prescott's backstory were refreshingly different. The writing style is very pleasant, and I find the aesthetic of the forests and mountains so beautiful. I listened to the audiobook and highly recommend it! I've already started the next book in the series.
