Bloodsinger is the second book in the trilogy and same as in the first book we get a standalone in this series. And yes, for me it came with the same problems. First of all, many criticised the slave - master relationship in the first book and while I personally was able to differentiate that as a relationship where she still had the control as far as possible in this historical setting, I think its important to mention that in Bloodsinger the romantic relationship only develops after Lela freed herself and found shelter. So here we don‘t have the same maybe for someone problematic difference in might. Lela again has magical abilities and who guessed it correctly after book one? Yes, of course, we get sister number 2 as fmc. I liked her as much as I liked Melina, probably even more because she was a fierce woman who was absolutely willing to do everything after she found her strength. Her development was quite realistically written given that one book is not a lot for some development at all. And the whole story was very captivating, sometimes cruel and I absolutely devoured this book. Both POV gave interesting insides, we again get the historical setting mixed with dragons and oh my god, I hated some of the characters so much, I celebrated when they were taken care of. Now we come to the point where I said before the book has the same problems as the first one: the romance again is rushed. Yes, I know, if we change POV‘s in every book thats the logical result but still, to make it realistic especially her romance would have needed more time. Her life was shit the previous years, she was brutally tortured by her master and didn‘t trust men at all. I absolutely felt the spark between the two of them and how they worked together on their goal but still, it was too quick for her to give in the romance after her past. The author tried to make sure that we as reader understand that she was ready and not forced but personally I would have loved to see no spice in this book. Of course we get a forshadowing to the third book in the end and guess what- its the third sisters POV we will get: Anya. And I will absolutely read this book too because even with the flaw of the always rushed romance I am absolutely in to read about the Gladiator-sister. Thanks to netgalley for the eARC!
