Lester Ballad more and more gets isolated from society. Living in a little shed in a forest that is used for all kinds of shady stuff he gets suspected for rape. Later he tries to fulfill his desire for female closeness through kidnapping and raping.

It was really disturbing and McCarthys retiring style is hard to figure out since he doesn’t use quotation marks or a lot of emotional descriptions. Nevertheless the story is binding and reflects on social isolation.
