Night Watch delves deeper into the philosophy of war and leadership than most of the Discworld books. It also offers more action than any others in the collection. For the initiated, you will discover how Reg Shoe becomes a zombie, you will meet Lord Vetinari as a young and promising student of the Assassin's Guild and discover how Knobby Knobs becomes a faithful follower of Commander Vimes in later years.

Buch 29 der Scheibenwelt folgt Sir Samuel Mumm welcher auf der jagt nach einem schrecklichen Verbrecher 30 Jahre durch die Zeit fällt, um dort sich selbst und der Wache auf die Sprünge zu helfen damit irgendwann etwas aus ihnen werden kann (in der Zukunft). Im Großen und Ganzen versucht Mumm zwar den Mörder daran zu hindern alles gegen die Wand zu fahren, aber tief in seinem Inneren, möchte er sicherstellen das sein jüngeres Ich mal er wird und sein aktuelles Ich wieder nach Hause zu Sybille kommt, welche kurz davor ist seinen Sohn auf die Welt zu bringen. Ein durchaus düsteres Buch im Vergleich zu anderen, aber wie gewohnt unterhaltsam und sehr, sehr spannend. Es war faszinierend bekannte Charaktere in jung zu erleben und zu beobachten wie zur Hölle Mumm wohl alles wieder richten kann.

Irgendwie viben Pratchett und ich einfach nicht. Ich finde alles so anstrengend und muss ständig Sätze ein zweites Mal lesen, weil ich denke "hä?!". Dieses Buch wollte ich so gerne lesen, weil es als Murder Mystery empfohlen wurde, aber das war leider nix. Sorry Terry, it's me, not you.
