The concept and horror is on point. Modifying people with mental 'damage' for the deep sea and then seeing it modify them, or rather themselves adapting to it was amazing. The overarching plot is decidedly in B-movie territory though, and it's pretty hard to connect to the characters. I'll still check out the next book though.
