A goldmine of funny ideas

A demon duck that lives for murder and bloodshed who hates to be trapped in this undignified and anything but scary form. A troll collecting bodyparts in case he loses some of his own. A little tryst between a grumpy road and an overeager broom. There were so many amazingly weird and funny ideas in this, that it pained me double that the writing style annoyed me most of the time. I prefer to learn about the characters' abilities through the story, so when danger is ahead, I know what they're capable of and how dire the situation is. But here it felt like I could never say if a situation was dire or not, because I had no idea what the witch was capable of. And everytime it looked dire she already had just the right idea ready which had never be mentioned before. Apart from the last battle I never got the feeling that there's any true danger, which got a bit boring after a while. But, I really, really enjoyed the finale that unexpectedly tackled on philosophical ideas about reality. All in all it was a weird mix. Great ideas packed in a way that was mostly boring to me, but still weirdly entertaining, topped with a great finale.
