Poor Arkasha cannot get a break. The women in his life always have a ton of baggage and typically an alternate agenda and he ends up being the scapegoat for any and every situation. Nevertheless, he is undeterred, incorruptible and willing to lose it all for justice. For what it is, I do like this series. Having it take place in Russia makes it different from a lot of detective (sorry, senior investigator) stories.
