I loved this book so much. Lara’s story is truly amazing & I love her character so much. This fierce determination & the way she accepts her role & the willingness to put everything & everybody else before her own wishes.. uff. I did the tandem read with book 3 & I’m so glad about it, because I think it improved the experience of those two books significantly. I loved the experience of exploring the same situation from different perspectives so much.

Holy Shit, die Bridge Kingdom Reihe wird safe eins meiner Favoriten (bleiben), wenn die anderen Bände auch so gut sind! Ich war von Band 1 schon geflasht aber Traitor Queen war NOCH krasser! Spannung von Anfang bis Ende, man weiß die ganze Zeit nicht, ob Aren Lara jemals verzeihen wird, was mit ihren Schwestern und ihrem Vater passiert... Wow. Einfach nur Wow. Das ganze Buch ist ein einziger Todeskampf, so viel Krieg, Brutalität und schierer Überlebenswille 😅 Ein gescheiterter Plan nach dem anderen... also das war ein einziger Spannungspeak, nicht einmal ist der abgefallen 😂 ich hing wirklich on the edge of my seat. Am Ende hab ich echt geheult, gelacht, das ist so ein Auf und Ab - aber im here for it. Und ich würds immer wieder lesen 🔥♥️🤝🏻

Die Geschichte um Lara und Aren geht in die nächste Runde. Auch hier gilt, dass das Rad nicht neu erfunden wurde, aber weitere Fakten zur Hintergrundgeschichte von Lara und ihren Schwester sowie die weitere Ausgestaltung der Welt haben Spaß beim Lesen gemacht. Der dritte Teil um Keris und Zaraah wartet bereits darauf, gelesen zu werden. P.S.: Nach Band 3 weiß ich, dass sich ein Tandem Read mit Band 2 absolut angeboten hätte. Lohnt sich, da beide Teile zur gleichen Zeit mit unterschiedlichen POVs spielen.

Ich lieb's doch, wenn mich der zweite Band einer Reihe noch mehr umhaut, als der erste! „The Traitor Queen" ist für mich die perfekte Fortsetzung von "Bridge Kindgom" und hat mir all the Feels gegeben. Die Story knüpft nahtlos ans Ende des ersten Teils an und man ist direkt wieder drin und fiebert mit Lara mit. Die (Liebes)geschichte zwischen Aren und Lara ist authentisch, fesselnd und noch vielschichtiger als im ersten Teil. Die Intrigen und Plot-Twists haben mich atemlos immer weiterlesen lassen und ich habe die wenigsten davon kommen sehen. Auch das Worldbuilding steht dem ersten Band in nichts nach. Ohne spoilern zu wollen: Der Part mit dem Sandsturm…?! Meine aaabsolute Lieblingsstelle! Ich konnte den Sand förmlich zwischen meinen Zähnen knirschen hören und in meinen Augen brennen fühlen. Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist so bildhaft, so spot-on, so immersiv – die Szenen, die ich beim Lesen vor Augen hatte, waren besser als jeder Film. Ich habe das Buch erst seit ein paar Tagen ausgelesen und wünsche mir jetzt schon, ich könnte es noch einmal zum ersten Mal lesen.

Auch der zweite Band dieser Reihe hat mir wieder richtig gut gefallen. Vor allem das tolle Setting hat mich erneut sehr angesprochen. Auch wenn insbesondere die Entwicklung der Lovestory vorauszusehen war, habe ich das Buch richtig gerne gelesen - sogar noch ein bisschen mehr als den ersten Band 🌞

Band 1 mochte ich wirklich gerne und hatte mich nun auch auf die Fortsetzung von Laras und Arens Geschichte gefreut. Leider fand ich Band 2 sehr langatmig. Immer bevor ich kurz davor war abzubrechen kamen wieder ein paar Seiten die mich weiterlesen ließen. Ich hoffe die weiteren Bände können mich wieder mehr überzeugen, da ich schon alle daheim hab.

This was everything. Truly. The beginning of the book was 10/10 again. After that it took me a bit to get into the story. I also blame Lara's and especially Aren's captivity. I usually have a hard time being interested in the plot while one of the protagonists are being held by the opposite party, and this was no different. But as soon as they went in to rescue Aren I was so back! Again, I loved the world the book is set in and the politics (even though I was confused at times, but I know that's just me). Meeting Lara's sisters was one of my hopes for this book, and it was even better than I imagined it would be! The way Danielle Jensen made me fell physical pain while reading this because Aren and Lara can't be together was unbelievable. I don't have this with a lot of books but this one really tugged on my heartstrings. I LOVED IT! I even cried at some point (several times actually). My heart was breaking and aching for them. Easy five stars! The ending was crazy dramatic - but so well done imo -, even though it ended rather suddenly. Still, this was everything I want from a book: interesting plot, great character development, a litte romance, a little heartbreak and a good ending. But I really want to read the next books now, too!

Ja, ja, ja... bad ass voller Reue und Liebe. Es hat mir gefallen mehr von ihrer Ausbildung zu erfahren und dass sie zeigen konnte wer sie ist! Achtung Spoiler! fast hab ich mir gewünscht, sie wäre gestorben. es hätte wirklich gut zur geschichte gepasst. aber plot-amor war am start ;-)

The book was definitely a rollercoaster of feelings, but overall i liked reading it. Though, I cannot agree with people saying this book is better than the 1st, because it just isn’t. I enjoyed finding out more of Lara’s sisters and her family at the royal court, though there were barely any scenes with Aren’s people. They were basically side side characters. Also where was the tension between Lara and Aren? She is responsible for the destruction of his kingdom, his capture and thousands of his people dying and he never shouts at her? There’s no aggression, no fierceness, just no tension. She cries and is depressed and he just tries to ignore her. !Attention Spoiler! Wtf is this ending supposed to be? You’re telling me that they all will forgive her because some sharks didn’t bite her? Seriously? Don’t get me wrong, ofc I want her to be accepted as their queen but they cant be serious that this is the reason why. And why was the scene where she killed her father so short? I felt like one moment she challenged him and two sentences after he was dead. Overall it is a solid book, but definitely not better than the last.

Honestly this is a 3,5 stars. Not as good as the Bridge Kingdom but stil enjoyed it. Same as with the first book another 100 pages would have done wonders for this book. There is so much that could've been explored here, especially after the ending of the previous book. I liked that we explored Lara's relationship with her sisters and also the way Lara and Aren reconnected on the "trip". However, I was expecting more from the lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers trope and I feel like there was a lot that we missed out on. The battle aspects were done well, and I enjoyed the set-up for the next duology, like meeting Keris and Zhara.

In the beginning of this book, we find Lara and Aren shortly after the end of [book:The Bridge Kingdom|211081101], Lara on her way to rescue him to redeem herself, Aren in captivity at her father's palace. I enjoyed this book nearly as much as the previous one. The romance was still compelling, but even more so was the political landscape and the way the two of them brokered alliances to get Aren and Ithicana free, sometimes based on as little as temporarily overlapping goals, sometimes based on deep life-long trust. I got a little annoyed with how easily Lara wanted others to forgive her for what she did, even if it was accidentally, but that was mostly personal annoyance. I can understand that despite believing people should not forgive her, she definitely still wants their forgiveness, as she loves these people. So this is less a grievance with the book and its plot or characters and more just petty annoyance. I will continue to read the series because I love the political landscape and world that Danielle L. Jensen is painting, and as I loved the romance of this first duology, I will surely love the romance in the next books of this series too, even if they seem to focus on other characters than these first two books did.

Update October 2023: Ich hatte anscheinend nen richtig guten Sonntag mit dem Buch damals. Schön für dich, Sina. Mein Herz hat diese Serie allerdings nicht mehr. Aber ich denke, dass diese Geschichte einen Platz in vieler anderer Herzen verdient hat. Bisschen Trennungsgespräch-Vibes hier. Liegt nicht an dir, liegt an mir (nur, dass es hier tatsächlich wahr ist). Review from February 2021: All in all, a book that would have earned 5 stars if not for the ending. I spent a whole snowy Sunday with this book, I suffered, read with excitement and my heart was broken more than once. And that's exactly why I would have liked a different ending. Not related to what happens in terms of content, but to the haste with which it was suddenly told. One gets the feeling that the author ran out of ambition or time on the last pages. Nevertheless, this series has my heart, even though it has been broken and put back together several times.

>>Spoiler<< Ich bin nicht ganz überzeugt von dem Buch. Ich weiß auch nicht genau welches mir besser gefallen hat der 1. oder der 2. Band. Am Ende war ich vom ersten Band aber etwas mehr mitgerissen als vom zweiten. Ich war hier eigentlich dauerhaft genervt von Charakteren und wie sie sich verhalten haben. Ich liebe Lara aber Arena ging mir bis fast zum Ende nur auf die Nerven. Er hasst sie, aber hasst sie dann wieder nicht. Er wünscht sich sie wäre tot und dann wieder nicht. Ist ja gut für eine Zeit aber nicht das gesamte Buch über.Ja Fehler sind passiert aber sie hat so oft ihr Leben in Gefahr gebracht um ihn zu retten und trotzdem ist es ihm Egal. Er hört ihr nicht zu, er versucht nicht mal sie zu verstehen. Was mich wirklich gestört hat ist das wirklich jeder in diesem Buch Lara gehasst hat (außer ihre Geschwister), egal in welchem Königreich, obwohl sie niemanden dort etwas getan hat.Überall wird sie behandelt als wäre sie ein unmündiges Kind, das nichts zu sagen hat. Mich persönlich hat das wirklich sehr gestört und dafür gesorgt das ich es nicht immer genossen habe das Buch zu lesen. Der letzte Punkt ist der Endkampf mit ihrem Vater oder generell das Ende. Da kam mir nämlich alles viel zu kurz, ich hatte das Gefühl das alles schnell zum Ende kommen sollte. Der Kampf mit ihrem Vater war nicht mehr als eine Seite und dafür daß er ein sehr guter Schwertkämpfer sein soll und sie Verletzt war, war der Kampf viel zu schnell vorbei. Ich hätte mir Gewünscht das es ein paar Seiten mehr gegeben hätte. Alles in allem war das Buch gut, man konnte es wirklich angenehm zwischendurch lesen. Die Charaktere sind interessant, die Welt ist gut aufgebaut und auch die Handlung ist relativ interessant.

The first book kind of disappointed me but I absolutely loved The Traitor Queen!! Now we actually start off with Lara and Aren being real enemies, or at least Lara being a real enemy to Aren. Even though Lara is our heroine, it’s undeniable that she made some very impactful mistakes in the previous book. Starting with part two, I was therefore already quite curious as to how we could still get a happy ending. But honestly this book manages surprisingly very well to create a realistic “redemption arc” for Lara. My main highlight though was definitely the development of the relationship of Aren and Lara. The slow-burn, the inner conflicts, the dual POVs - simply perfect. - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was a real page turner for me, it’s easy to dive back into the world and the plot. A lot of feelings are portrayed and even more character growth and nerve wrecking scenes. I love the determination of the Main Character Lara and like in the first book her strength. She’s a real queen, I love her!

Nachdem Aren gefangen genommen und Lara aus Ithicana verbannt wurden, muss sie einen Weg suchen, um ihn irgendwie aus den Fängen ihres Vaters zu befreien. Dafür baut sie auf die Hilfe anderer und vor allem auf die Hilfe ihrer Schwestern. Ein langer Weg steht Lara bevor, der sehr beschwerlich ist und seine Opfer verlangt. Man sieht hier in dem Teil wieder ganz klar, weshalb Lara "die kleine Kakerlake" genannt wird. So viel muss sie durchstehen und an ihre körperlichen Grenzen stoßen, so sehr, dass sie öfters fast das Zeitliche segnet. Doch sie steht immer und immer wieder auf, lässt sich nicht unterkriegen und gönnt sich selbst keine Pause. Zugegebenermaßen war das teilweise sehr unlogisch, da sie eigentlich mit Sicherheit tot sein müsste. Aber was wäre diese Reihe ohne unsere geliebte Lara. Die Handlung war anfangs sehr zäh und schleichend, aber dennoch spannend, weshalb ich interessiert weiter gelesen habe. Mein größter Kritikpunkt ist, wie auch bereits im ersten Teil, die Weltbeschreibung, vor allem für Ithicana. Ich konnte mir einfach nicht vor Augen führen, wie das alles dort genau aussehen soll, wo sie sich in manchen Momenten befinden, wie es aufgebaut ist. Der zweite Teil war der letzte aus den Sichten von Lara und Aren. Ich werde das ganze erst einmal sacken lassen und mich Zarrah dann irgendwann später einmal widmen.

Teils war es spannender als der erste Teil, jedoch haben mich viele Passagen einfach nur verwirrt, lag vermutlich daran, dass teils vieles schnell passiert ist und dies nicht wirklich gut bildlich erklärt wurde. Zudem waren es ein paar zu viele Charaktere. Wie beim ersten Buch auch, finde ich, dass das Genre Fantasy absolut nicht passt. Es ist eine erfundene Welt- das wars aber auch schon. Sehr aktionreich und kriegerisch, hätte mir da mehr Fantasy gewünscht oder ruhige Momente. Da nun dieser Teil recht abgerundet endet, ohne Cliffhanger, werde ich die Reihe nicht weiter lesen.

I liked this, but it did not hook me as much as book 1. It was exciting, full of scheming and war and fighting, but for me the romance was missing a little. However, I still enjoyed the few intimate moments Lara and Aren shared. It was a beautiful story and I‘m excited to see what else will happen with the other characters 🥰

The Traitor Queen 👑 (The Bridge Kingdom 2) Wer Bücher auch auf Englisch liest und Romantasy mag, der sollte sich diese Reihe wirklich genauer anschauen! (Ohne zu sehr zu spoilern:) Wer Band 1 kennt, weiß, dass Lara König Aren heiratet, um zu spionieren und sein Königreich in die Knie zu zwingen. Doch die beiden fühlen sich (Überraschung Überraschung!) zueinander hingezogen. Band 2 erzählt die Geschichte, wie es mit diesem Konflikt weitergeht. Band 2 steht Band 1 in nichts nach. Zwar gibt es einige Passagen, die sich für mich ein kleines bisschen gezogen haben, aber die letzten turbulenten 100 Seiten reißen wirklich wieder alles raus. Bereitet euer Herz darauf vor, kann ich nur sagen! Ich habe zwischendurch kurz Taschentücher gebraucht… 🗡️ starke weibliche Protagonistin 🗡️ tolle Chemie zwischen den Hauptcharakteren 🗡️ der Aufbau ihrer Beziehung ist nachvollziehbar und nimmt sich Zeit 🗡️ fantastisch geschriebene dual POV 🗡️ ich habe Taschentücher gebraucht 🗡️ außerdem Pluspunkte für Jack - das Kamel 🐫 🗡️ Laras Schwestern sind mindestens so badass wie sie!

The first book was a really entertaining read, while this second installment, in my opinion, had its flaws. Overall, I liked the writing style and the characters. What I didn’t like was that Lara became really overpowered, apparently it is super easy to kill several people attacking you without much effort, it just felt like the stakes weren’t that high and the danger not that threatening. (Or all the other nations having awfully incompetent soldiers) Moreover, but this could be due to my lack of experience with huge blood lost and huge leg injuries) I just couldn’t understand how someone’s first thought after almost bleeding to death and getting stitched up, is „dancing the devil‘s tango“ with their significant other. Seriously? Apparently same injury is not keeping the same person from almost effortlessly killing a super skilled swordsman. I don’t mind if the combat part of a romance book falls short, but in this case, fighting the enemy was the main plot line. The plot armor just felt way to obvious in this one.
