My Favorite Volume
Rachel Smythe continues to elevate her already breathtaking story with heart, depth, and jaw-dropping visuals. The plot in this volume takes bold leaps forward, weaving together political tension, emotional vulnerability, and mythic stakes in a way that kept me utterly absorbed from start to finish. What makes this volume stand out for me is how fully developed Persephone feels. Her journey toward strength, self-discovery, and defiance is both powerful and deeply moving — I was genuinely invested in every challenge she faced. The emotional beats between her and Hades are some of the most sincere and affecting in the whole series, and the art elevates every moment with vivid detail and stunning composition. The pacing is phenomenal here — there’s action, heartbreak, revelation, and growth. The escalation of stakes, from divine exile to looming war, feels both epic and deserved. And that bonus short story? A delightful extra touch that only deepened my appreciation for these characters. If you love Greek mythology reinvented with romance, emotion, and gorgeous art, this volume is everything you could hope for — and more. I can’t wait to see where the next one goes!
