4.5! I loved it! I didn’t expect anything when picking up this book but I’m so happy I did. This was exactly like any other romcom except for the fact that it wasn’t anything like any other romcom. Very clever and witty writing style, genuinely funny, relatable characters that all grow and change over the course of the book. That was one of my favourite parts of this book - the protagonists development which falls flat in most romcoms in my opinion. There were some underlying darker themes that were handled in a good and appropriate manner. I felt like the pacing was a bit off in some parts of the book, that’s basically my only criticism. Well done!

If she wasn’t dead already, Delphie would be dying of embarrassment. Not only did she just die by choking on a microwaveable burger, but now she’s standing in her ‘shine like a star’ nightie in front of the hottest man she’s ever seen. And he’s smiling at her. As they start to chat, everything else becomes background noise. That is until someone comes running out of a door, yelling something about a huge mistake, and sends the dreamy stranger back down to earth. And here Delphie was thinking her luck might be different in the afterlife. When Delphie is offered a deal in which she can return to earth and reconnect with the mysterious man, she jumps at the opportunity to find her possible soulmate and a fresh start. But in a city of millions, Delphie is going to have to listen to her heart, learn to ask for help, and perhaps even see the magic in the life she’s leaving behind…

I finally finished it !! The time that I read this has dragged on for so long😭. I’m sick rn so my brain is not functioning so I’ll keep this review short. This story was one of a kind for sure, very original !! Or at least I haven’t read something like this yet. The story is basically that Delphie dies and ends up in 'Evermore' aka the afterlife where Meritt is her afterlife therapist. The time she’s there she meets a very charming man named Jonah and instantly feels a connection with him. Meritt and Delphie make a deal that she will get send back to earth but only has ten days to meet Jonah and that he has to kiss her willingly. These ten days get quite eventful for her since she doesn’t know anything about this Jonah except that name and that he’s from London. While she tries to somehow find him she meets lots of new people and gets very close to Cooper,her neighbor. I already suspected that Delphies Soulmate wasn’t really Jonah but everything still went like I wanted it too🙈. Cooper and Delphie got really close, from sexual things to getting to know each other and loving each other. Not gonna lie, some tears definitely left my eyes, especially when the car crash happened. Context: Delphie only had an hour or 30min left for Jonah to kiss her and even though she gave up on that she realized that she wanted to live and begged Cooper to drive her to Jonah’s address. They crashed and firstly met in Evermore but then Delphie got sent back to earth because Jonah did a mouth-to-mouth on her but Cooper fell into a coma for quite some time. After the surgery etc Jonah said that he really started to like her and felt a connection but Delphie rejected him because she fell in love with cooper which honestly made my heart melt. One plot twist was definitely that Meritt aka 'Em/M' turned out to be Coopers dead twin sister. The ending was so cute omfg. I’m so happy that they got their Happy End. I loved the friendship Delphie had with Mr.Yoon and how she got closer to him throughout the story and found many other friends that love her. Very cute book !!

Bei diesem Buch habe ich die Leseprobe eher zufällig gelesen, aber war sofort gefesselt. Was ein interessantes Konzept! „Der Versuch, etwas zu tun, was einem Angst macht, ist fast so gut, als wenn man es schafft.“ Delphie ist tot – also, nicht ganz. Sie ist gestorben, aber als sie im Jenseits auf ihren Seelenverwandten Jonah trifft, der nur aus Versehen dort gelandet ist, zeigt ihre Jenseits-Therapeutin Merrit – ein großer Rom-Com Fan – Erbarmen und schickt Delphie wieder zurück auf die Erde. Unter einer Bedingung: sie muss Jonah innerhalb von 10 Tagen in London wiederfinden und er muss sie von sich aus küssen. Ansonsten muss Delphie den Rest ihres Lebens nach dem Tod damit verbringen, als Versuchskaninchen für eine Jenseits-Dating App hinzuhalten. Ihr Albtraum! Also begibt sich Delphie zurück auf die Erde, getrieben von der Mission, Jonah wiederzufinden, dessen Nachnamen sie allerdings nicht kennt. Immer wieder springt sie über ihren Schatten, kommt heraus aus ihrem Schneckenhaus, in das sie sich so lange zurückgezogen hat. Sie entdeckt ihre Nachbarschaft neu und schließt neue Freundschaften, denn jemanden in einer Millionenstadt mit tickender Uhr zu finden, schafft man nicht alleine. Und bei der Suche nach Jonah steht Delphie auch immer wieder vor Hindernissen, fast so, als wolle das Schicksal sie davon abhalten, ihn wiederzufinden… Im Verlauf der Geschichte lernen wir andere Charaktere kennen, wie den mürrischen Nachbar Cooper (der eigentlich ein sehr weiches Herz hat) oder Hundesitterin Frida, mit der Delphie bei einem Akt-Malkurs ihre Liebe zur Kunst wiederentdeckt. Es ist also nicht unbedingt eine klassische Liebesgeschichte, aber doch eine romantische Komödie mit einer Art „coming of age“ Fokus, auch wenn Delphie schon 27 und damit kein Teenager ist. Trotzdem geht es viel um Selbstfindung und die Freude am Leben. Zum Ende hin nimmt die Geschichte eine interessante Wendung ein, die ich tatsächlich habe kommen sehen, was ich aber bei Rom-Coms überhaupt nicht negativ bewerten möchte. Trotzdem war mir der Drama und Kitsch-Faktor am Ende etwas zu hoch, weshalb es für mich nicht das perfekte Buch war. Insgesamt hatte ich aber viel Spaß, konnte lachen und mit Delphie mitfiebern. Ich gebe 4 von 5 Sternen.
