Sweet romance but nothing special 🐈⬛🌾
In the Weeds was one of the books I had been looking forward ever since Beckett and Evelyn were teased in book one. Unfortunately it took me quite a while to really get into the story and fully connect with it. Even though the atmosphere was cozy and adorable, I never completely warmed up to the book itself. That being said, Beckett was incredibly lovable and definitely one of the highlights of the story. His dynamic with Evelyn was sweet and enjoyable to read, but many of the scenes and developments felt a little too short, like there could have been more depth and build-up to certain moments. I kept wishing the book had taken a bit more time with the individual storylines (Evelyns job, Becketts problem with noise, the duck…). The side characters were also really charming and I loved seeing Stella and Luka from the first book again. Their inclusion made the story feel familiar and comforting. The epilogue and the bonus chapter were a solid 10/10 tho — especially with the way the animals (cats, duck, chickens, cow, … A WHOLE FARM AT THAT POINT) were woven into the story. That added warmth and charm to the overall reading experience. Overall In the Weeds is a cute and cozy romance that’s perfect for a light read in between heavier books. It’s sweet and low on drama even if it didn’t feel particularly memorable or extraordinary to me.
