Leseempfehlung: JA, ein absolut Traumhafter Liebesroman mit viel Tiefgang und Emotionen Genre: Romance Cover: ❄️ Art: E - Book (Kindle unlimited) Meinung: Die Autorin hat hier eine tiefgründige und emotionale Geschichte entwickelt. Es geht um Lenny, deren beste Freundin verstorben ist und sie seitdem in einem Loch ist. Sie ist eine starke Persönlichkeit, lässt sich trotz des Verlustes nicht unterkriegen und ist wahnsinnig authentisch. Auf der anderen Seite haben wir Miles. Er hat auch einiges an Gebäck dabei und hilft Lenny wieder zurück ins Tageslicht. Miles ist ein absoluter Traumtyp. Er ist ruhig, gibt ihr die Zeit und den Raum den sie braucht, auch wenn sie selber nicht merkt, dass sie es braucht. Ich habe gelacht und geweint bei diesem Buch, ich kann es nur wärmstens ans Herz legen. Einen Mini Makel habe ich dennoch - ich hätte die Geschichte auch gerne aus seiner Sicht gelesen

Das Buch hatte mir eine Kollegin als das beste Buch empfohlen, das sie dieses Jahr gelesen hat. Vielleicht hatte ich zu hohe Erwartungen, aber das Buch war es einfach nicht für mich. Die Story an sich war echt süß und Miles war auch wirklich Zucker, aber ich fand Lenny einfach nur total drüber und dadurch teilweise anstrengend. Die Sexszene war leider auch total cringe. Der Schreibstil an sich hat mir jedoch gut gefallen, das Buch hat sich sehr flüssig gelesen.

I appreciate the way Cara Bastone handled grief, it’s such a complex emotion and different experience for everyone. As someone who recently lost her grandma, I could really see myself in & relate to a lot of things discussed in this book. ❤️‍🩹 The author definitely has a talent for describing feelings and scenes in general, I love when there’s more “showing than telling” in a novel. The characters were great, they felt authentic and overall well written. Lenny and Miles are so perfect for each other, I love that they not only try to prioritize the other person, but also put the focus on themselves as an individual. 🫂 Their relationship was slow burn, but it was very fitting as the primary focus was on grieving, healing and accepting the new reality. “I feel like I'm finally home after a really long day at work."

Doch ein neuer Babysitterjob bringt sie zu Reese, deren Tochter Ainsley – und zu Miles, der ihre Trauer erkennt. Um ihr zu helfen schlägt er ihr vor, ihre Liste gemeinsam abzuarbeiten. Und zwischen nächtlichen Gesprächen, ungeplantem Lachen und ehrlichen Momenten wächst etwas, das Lenny längst verloren glaubte: Hoffnung. Das Buch hat mir wirklich viel besser gefallen als „Ready or Not“. Das Thema der Trauer wurde sehr einfühlsam behandelt und auch die Charaktere waren ganz toll, allen voran Miles (und Ainsley war wirklich Zucker). Am Anfang des Buches gab es genau drei Rückblicke in Lenny‘s Leben mit Lou, die mir jedoch etwas willkürlich vorkamen. Dafür, dass Lou Lenny so viel bedeutet hat, hätte ich mir hier mehr gewünscht - mehr Einblicke aus ihrer Zeit zusammen und wie diese Lenny und die Gegenwart prägen.

4.25 ⭐️ Okey hear me out: I can be an awkward person but the FMC was on another level!! Some scenes really gave me second-hand embarassment BUT that‘s also the only thing I didn‘t like. Because everything else about the book was soooo good! I especially loved the portrayal of grief and friendship (and the MMC hihi)

“Promise Me Sunshine” is about grief and love. But mainly grief. It's equally sad as it is funny. Lenny is grieving her best friend and is, at least emotionally, hanging on for dear life. Then she finds Miles and he, as Lenny later states, “went to hell and dragged her back out”. The writing is absolutely exquisite and portrayed the emotions and the sudden change in mood very well. While this book is about grief, the tone is very much not necessarily sad. It is actually more casual and fits the characters & story really well. The characters were great too. Loooooooooved Ainsley!! I love me a good grumpy character and when Miles was first introduced, I was sure he’s THE grumpiest of them all. The fact that he’s not made him only so much better. Cara Bastone managed to find that sweet, sweet spot between a sad book and romcom, where one is crying in one moment and then laughing the next. I cannot wait to read more from this author!
