I loved the premise but I knew from the beginning that this is gonna be trashy af. I mean, The Blair Witch Project for the TikTok generation? TikTok is arguably one of the worst platforms out there, so I definitely wasn't the target group. Yet I still gave it a try, as it is a very short book. It's very obvious that it took a lot of inspiration from the Elisa Lam case, and the book is even dedicated to her. However, this novel is just as bad and superficial as the Netflix docu-series Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel. The writing was weird and stuff like "Chase opens his mouth to verbally rip me a new asshole, but Kiki interrupts." was irritating. Chase was also a complete dick, as he tracked the phones of every other member of the Ghost Gang. Rather than considering it problematic, one of the girls was happy about it. The fuck? The romance was also over the top and hella unnecessary. It was also clear from the beginning who the killer was. Very weak book which couldn't convince me.
