This book had no right to leave me sobbing on a Friday at 1am. While I had major issues with some of the on the nose language choices and jokes in this book, for it simply broke me out of the immersion at times, the story immediately redeemed those points. This book turned out to be heartbreak. I spent the last 40 pages straight up bawling my eyes out about something that was built up to be inevitable over the entire course of the book. But in that moment, it just hit so deeply that I can only applaud the author for that. Yet, the language problems and the fact that I would've loved to get to know the characters better, since they seemed a little surface level sometimes, has me retracting a star. Nonetheless, if you need a good old tragic lovestory and some hellish-spooky vibes reminiscent of Crimson Peak, you should give this one a go!
