"So you think I'm hot." "Doesn't every girl?" It surprised me when his cheeks turned a light shade of pink. I wasn't sure why that embarrassed him in any way. I was positive he already knew it. He ran one hand through his hair. Then he said, almost too quiet for me to hear, "You're not every girl."

I feel like if I hold things close, never share, then I never give anyone the opportunity to judge me. I didn’t particularly enjoy this book but I also didn’t hate it. I’ve read quite a few Kasie West books and they all left me feeling kind of “meh” towards them. They’re never something I remember a few days later: I really like to read them when I’m in a mood in which I don’t know what kind of book I want to read next. I think I like to read them because nothing really happens. And that’s my main problem with her books. Although P.S I Like You has what feels like a MILLION subplots (family drama, fights with her best friend, a song writing competition…) I was so bored. The story was full of clichés and there was no real mystery regarding the pen pal – it was obvious from the start. I didn’t like the love interest, he was a complete and utter asshole. I still don’t believe that their hate turned into love. Her best friend wasn’t any better. She constantly wanted to set Lily up with someone, as if having a boyfriend in her life is the only thing that matters. And I don’t think that she treats her like a friend (“Aw, how cute, you found a new weird pen pal. The two of you are like the same person.”). The boys she tried to set Lily up with were never mentioned again, yet I found them more interesting than the actual love interest. Then there’s Lily’s sister, Ashley. I think her character was quite irrelevant and gave really bad advice (“I you want a romantic relationship with a guy, first he has to find you mysterious, then intriguing, then funny. In that order. If it’s in any different order, you are forever labelled friend.”) I can already tell that I probably will never think about this book again. There was nothing that moved me or impressed me, it’s really quite unremarkable.

In P.S.

How great is it when you finish your reading challenge with a 5-star read? I can’t believe this but Kasie Wests work is getting even more awesome than it already was. I absolutely adored „PS: I like you“; more than any of her other books I‘ve read. I’m in such a Kasie-West-binge right now because her writing is gorgeous! The main protagonist were so fantastic. I loved their chemistry together. The story was cute and a really fast read for me. I like that she also touches some more serious topics in her books even tough the story doesn’t linger on them. The main focus is the romance and I love that. This is definitely my favourite book of hers up until this point. Excited to read the rest of her work.
