Sehr einfach zu lesen, spannend bis zum Schluss. Das mit Maigris fand ich etwas überflüssig. Es ist kein „episches Fantasy“, die Charaktere sind nicht besonders detailreich ausgearbeitet, die Sprache ist auch nicht außerordentlich brilliant, den Plot hätte man sehr viel mehr ausschmücken können. Aber die Buchreihe macht insgesamt Spaß, und darauf kommt es mir an.

At first, I thought this series was going to be based on Harry Potter, with the summary of the first book. An outcast boy that survived the most evil enemy as a baby, knows nothing about magic and becomes the biggest hero of his time. But then, the series became more. It had dark plots and twists, and it was just really great. Book 5 was not the best book in my opinion, but still an ending worthy of the whole series. I am quite sad to say goodbye to Tamara, Cal and Aaron. And the more time I let pass, and the more I think about this, the more I become dissappointed by the ending to the series... I was so hyped up, and had high expectations, but then The Golden Tower just seemed to drag without much suspense. And I hated what they did to Alastair; he didn't deserve this... Oh, and many people say this is for middle-grade: we listened to these books with the whole family, and everbody enjoyed it. Stop trying to force target audiences on books...

Ich bin richtig traurig, dass es jetzt rum ist. Einige Male fand ich den Humor etwas arg kindisch. Aber man darf nicht vergessen, dass sie Protagonisten erst 15/16 Jahre alt sind. Und wenn ich ehrlich bin, hätte ich in dem Alter auch gelacht. In jedem Fall hat die Story kein einziges Klischee bedient und mich doch überraschen können.

Schöner Abschluss der Buchreihe! Auch wenn das Ende irgendwie halb offen wirkt. Insgesamt muss ich sagen, verstehe ich die Kritik nicht, dass die AutorInnen sich an Harry Potter orientiert haben sollen - ja es geht um Zauberei, Schule und Freundschaft. Wie in zig anderen Büchern auch. Mir gefällt gut, dass die Charaktere so morally grey sind. Es gibt kaum einen der nur gut und kaum einen der nur böse ist.
