I wish it was longer...! Seriously, the only thing that stops me from giving 5 stars is that some aspects were of too little detail, making it a little too fast-paced. But the story and the characters are so charming, the development is sooo reasonable and easy to follow, and even though they are on better terms, their original reason for hatred still lingers, making it more realistic. Very fun to read and I already preordered the third book.

Band 2 hat sich ganz schön gezogen am Anfang. Selbe Wertung, obwohl ich Band 1 ein bisschen stärker fand. Allerdings hatte der auch nur 260 Seiten... Man hätte in diesem Band noch kürzen können und beide Bücher zusammenfassen können in einem. So hat mir das Pacing gar nicht gefallen. Laurent hat ewig gebraucht um sich mal zu öffnen, damit sich die Beziehung der beiden mal weiterentwickeln konnte. Bis zu etwa 2 Drittel des Buches kriecht das ganze wie so eine Schnecke vorwärts. Das letzte Drittel war dann allerdings Bombe, da kann ich nicht meckern. Hatte auch viel Spaß während des Lesens zu rätseln was nun hinter Allem steckt. Obwohl das große Geheimnis von Laurent schon im ersten Buch allen klar sein sollte. Und auch der große Twist am Ende <spoiler>(dass Laurent schon die ganze Zeit wusste, dass Damen der prince-killer ist)</spoiler> sollte man schon vorher zwischen den Zeilen gelesen haben. Ich hatte für den dritten Band sogar noch nen doppelten Boden im Verdacht, aber das hatte sich zum Glück nicht bewahrheitet.

Ich bin begeistert, das zweite Buch in der Captive Prince Reihe war noch besser als das erste. Die Beziehung zwischen Laurent und Damen wird immer weiter aufgebaut ohne dass es zu schnell oder zu langsam geht. Auch der Plot nimmt fahrt auf und lässt einen nie gelangweilt oder genervt zurück! Innerhalb von "kurzen" 380 Seiten beschreibt die Autorin die Verbindungen der Charaktere und der Action nebenbei verdammt gut. Sehr guter Allrounder und verdiente 5 Sterne meinerseits :) Freue mich schon auf den letzten Teil.

Um weiten besser als der erste Teil der Trilogie, der wirklich sehr problematisch war. Dark Romance ist für mich einfach meistens nicht vertretbar weil die problematischen Aspekte einfach nicht reflektiert werden, wie auch im ersten Teil. Im zweiten Teil haben wir jetzt keinen wirklichen Dark Romance Aspekte mehr und der Fokus liegt auf der Liebesbeziehung, der beiden Hauptcharaktere, die zunehmend gesünder wird. Trotzdem ist sie für mich toxisch, I mean der Loveinterest hat dem Protagonist fast zu Tode gepeitscht und der Protagonist hat wiederum in der Vergangenheit den Bruder des Loveinterest umgebracht und jetzt verlieben sie sich in einander. Ja ich weiß, dass ist das Prinzip von Enemy’s to Lovers aber es funktioniert für mich auch in einer weniger dramatischen Weise. Es ließt sich flüssig und ist spannend aber Dark Romance ist einfach nicht so meins. Mir ist es trotzdem noch zu vulgär und sexuell zu drüber und aufgeladen, obwohl der zweite Teil bei weitem viel weniger davon beinhaltet. Mögt ihr Dark Romance, lest es; hasst ihr Dark Romance, dann lest es nicht.

When I finished the first book I was thinking about how is it possible for those two to like each other? We can see that in the second clearly. I loved the plots, I couldn’t stop reading. It’s so well written with the perfect pace. It never got boring and one of the last chapters broke my heart. I was invested not only in Laurent and Damens story but also for the story’s of a few side characters. What I found very impressive is how these side characters get an impact to the big story. What I also liked were all the interactions, it had me giggling and shaking my feet. A wonderful book and I’m exited to read the third one.

Picked this up at 8:30pm and finished it at 5:30am, it was unputdownable. If you abhorred the first book, I can’t blame you. And it makes sense that you didn’t make it here. But towards the end of this is a scene that means a lot to me. The journey to me was worth it just for that. The friend who got me hooked on this series in the first place said this was his favourite part of the trilogy and it did grip me by the balls. It’s All for the Game meets The Lord of the Rings (literally, the battle of Helm’s Deep is Ravenel with sprinkles of Return of the King :D) and I am the peak target audience right here, I am somewhat worried to admit :D CNs for physical violence, (child) sexual abuse, suicide, explicit sexual content, abduction, murder, war

Ich bin soooo gefesselt von dieser Geschichte. Woooow Ich liebe wie sich Damon und Laurent so langsam näher kommen und es nicht alles zu schnell zwischen ihnen geht. Das Ende? Wooooooow. Ich hatte so gänsehaut. Ich liebe einfach Intriegen und Verrat in Büchern, deshalb ist das einfach perfekt. Ich habe jetzt schon angst, dass es zu schnell vorbei ist.

Slow-burn as its finest! In Teil 2 geht es direkt spannend weiter. Wir haben ein tolles und nicht zu komplexes Worldbuilding mit politische Intrigen und unvorhersehbaren Wendungen. Dazu zwei Protagonisten, die noch immer verfeindeten sind, aber für das Wohl aller auf ihre ganz eigene Art zusammenarbeiten. Für mich ein gelungener zweiter Teil!

I know that this kind of story isn’t for everyone but if you accept it by comparing it to Game Of Thrones but simpler, gayer and without fantasy…it’s amazing! This book was so much better than the first one. The action, the war, the planning, the strategies together with a slow burn romance were very intriguing. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and couldn’t stop reading which is why I just have to give props to Pacat and 5 stars to this book.

Este segundo libro me ha gustado muchísimo más que el primero, si es que eso es posible porque me encantó. Aquí cambia todo por completo y ha sido increíble. Laurent si ya me gustaba en el anterior, aquí me gusta mucho más. Se conoce más de él, lo que en realidad es debajo de esa fachada de frialdad. Y Damen, es un personaje maravilloso. Hay giros en la trama que me han dejado completamente sin habla y ese final... Ha sido perfecto, ¡necesito leer el siguiente libro ya!

I swear this book killed me! So many emotions trampled, so many feelings..!!! How is it that a book like this can do this to a person? It got me smiling, and laughing and broke my poor heart and left me confused! What the hell! It was a great book, I've fallen for the story and characters in only a few lines; this book especially was the unravelling of the two main characters. That was quite beautiful to read, the growing trust and friendship, the love slowly flourishing between then. I felt every second of Damen's heartbreak, every second of Laurent's careful vulnerability and it was a very pleasing and beautiful book to read! I couldn't love it more, it is one of my favourites! Update 14.10.2018 I don't think I can add to my last review. This book was beautiful, you really see Laurent's and Damen's relationship evolve in the best of ways! You see how smart and cunning Laurent can be, how he seems to always be one step ahead, as we have come to expect, but at the same time not. It's like the Regent has thought of everything first and it's irritating that after everything all of these characters have gone through, more so in this book perhaps, that they still seem to be losing! I want so much for Laurent and Damen to join forces not just for this war but for good! I want Damen to come clean because what he feels for Laurent and what Laurent feels for him goes beyond trust and beyond friendship, even if now I can't call it love... Laurent deserves more from Damen and I want to see that happen. I want to see it unravel. Because Laurent isn't stupid and I think it may have crossed his mind, even if it was cast aside as mere coincidence or overthinking. Oh, and there's a part (and a half) where we see Damen and Laurent being so sweet...! It's the best thing! It melted my heart and I love it!!! As before, I've loves this book. It's one of my all-time favourites!
