Finally, a physics book that doesn't make my head spin! Tyson breaks down the mysteries of the universe—from the Big Bang to dark matter—in a way that anyone can grasp. I finished it feeling a bit smarter and a lot more inspired. Highly recommended if you want to understand the stars without needing a PhD

Ein empfehlenswertes Buch für alle, die sich zwar für die Sterne und das Universum interessieren, sich aber nicht so wirklich an das Thema herantrauen. Mit viel Humor und einfachen Sätzen erklärt uns Neil deGrasse Tyson die wichtigsten Punkte der Astrophysik. Zwar mag das Thema noch immer etwas verwirrend anmuten, aber der Autor schafft es, uns diese Angst zu nehmen. Eine perfekte Einstiegsdroge ins Thema sozusagen.

I just love Neil deGrasse Tyson reading his own books! It was a bit short but given the title, it's what I've expected. A brief overview is given about the major astrophysic topics. No scientific overload, no complicated theories. It's a perfect start for everyone who wants to know a bit more about the place we live in.

I love science. Well, I'm clearly not an expert and I sucked at it in school, but I effing love it. I'm just really hungry for answers and it bothers me that mankind doesn't have all of them (yet). Moreover, I'm bothered that I'll probably never be able to fully understand the matter of astrophysics because, let's be real, logical thinking and mathematics don't go well with me. However, this book was amazing. Neil deGrasse Tyson is great to begin with, and he has a hilarious way of putting things into understandable words. (You should check out his podcast!) I still felt kinda stupid at times reading this. Like, stuff is already explained pretty simply for people like myself, but I could still feel my brain zoning out after a few sentences of mathematic business. Anyhow, my thickness is not the book's fault and most of what's showed is really comprehensible and, most importantly, immensely interesting. (Especially the chapters on dark matter and dark energy were really exciting to me. He even talked about aliens!) Thinking about the universe just makes you feel so small - the overwhelming greatness of it all is amazing. How unlikely is it that we, in this place, in this time, exist? (For that matter, thank you for spending your precious time being alive star dust reading my review!) I was constantly blown away with this book. I wish Einstein could have lived to see what happened after him, like gravitational waves and stuff. I can't wait to see what scientists will find out in the future, but, alas: "The universe is under no obligation to make sense to you." - Neil deGrasse Tyson

Der Wissenschaftsroman „Astrophysics for people in a hurry“ von Neil deGrasse Thyson ist ein sehr lehrreicher kleiner Ratgeber. Ich interessiere mich sehr für physikalische und technische Dinge, weswegen ich unbedingt dieses Buch lesen wollte. Thyson erklärt viele wichtige Aspekte in dem Themenbereich der Astrophysik, dass der Leser in jedem Kapitel das Gefühl hat etwas Neues zu erlernen. Jedoch muss ich sagen, dass ich der Meinung bin, dass Menschen, welche nicht ganz in der Materie drin sind, es schwerer haben könnten. Es ist jedoch nicht unmöglich es zu verstehen. Das Buch kann ich jedem ans Herzen legen, der gerne etwas neues dazulernen möchte und genau so fasziniert von den Sternen ist wie ich.
