I liked the first book a little bit better but still I could not wait to finish this book. I have to admit that during the story it felt like I read this before (which I did not) so I guess I once read a book which was very similar to this story.... That made me a bit sad but it was still a good book.

Deutsche Rezension: Meine Gedanken zum Buch: Ich war wirklich überrascht und sehr begeistert vom ersten Teil dieser Reihe und dementsprechend hoch waren auch meine Erwartungen an dieses Buch hier. Besonders da es nun um Beth ging, die mir zwar im ersten Teil noch etwas zu abweisend vorkam, aber dafür schon im ersten Teil kurz gezeigt hat, dass ihr Leben alles andere als perfekt ist und daher kann man ihr Verhaltung, ihre Abwehr gut nachvollziehen. So wie auch hier im zweiten Teil, in dem man noch einen viel größeren und genaueren Blick auf Beth und ihr Leben bekommt. Besonders auf ihre Mutter und ihr Verhältnis zu ihr und auch auf ihre verkorkste Kindheit, die man nicht einmal seinem Feind wünschen würde. Daher kann man wie gesagt auch Beths Verschlossenheit nachvollziehen und ihre Handlungen, die bei jeder anderen zum Kopfschütteln geführt hätte. Sie läuft gerne weg und will vor Problemen die Augen verschließen, doch dann wird ihr Onkel Scott ihr Vormund, sie muss umziehen und lernt dort den Sportler und Good-Boy Ryan kennen. Und ja, hier haben wir auch gleich unseren romantischen, männlichen Gegenpart des Buches gefunden. Zuerst hatte ich meine Probleme mit Ryan, weil er anscheinend alles hat, was man sich wünschen kann und eher oberflächlich wirkte. Aber das hat sich zum Glück im Verlauf geändert und ein Teil lag wohl auch daran, dass er ein Baseball-Spieler ist und ich damit über nichts anfangen kann und ich Null Interesse an Baseball habe. Zum Glück wurde dieser Aspekt immer weniger. ;) Ich finde ja das Ryan ganz okay war und ein netter Charakter, und auch Beth war dann etwas besser, aber sie sind nicht rann gekommen an Noah und Echo aus dem ersten Teil. Irgendwie hat mir hier leider generell dieser wow-Effekt gefehlt, wofür ich selber nicht ganz den Grund benennen kann. Und andere mögen dass oft nicht, wenn man noch sieht, wie glücklich das Pärchen aus einem vorherigen Teil ist und sie herum turteln, aber ich fand es schön, dass auch Echo und Noah kurz – sehr kurz- vorkamen und sie noch immer glücklich sind. Finde sowas immer total schön und auch okay und nicht übertrieben, wenn es so wie hier im Rahmen bleibt und nur kurz was von ihnen gezeigt wird. :) Was mich aber sehr gestört hat, war die Tatsache, dass es sich doch vieler Klischees bedient hat, vor allem was Beth, aus schlechtem Hause, und Ryan, aus einer vermeintlich intakten, reichen Familie, betrifft. Auch die Wette, weswegen er zuerst Beth angesprochen hat, war nicht nach meinem Geschmack. Es war nicht originell und war viel zu sehr von Perfect Chemistry#1 abgekupfert, auch wenn es hier etwas anders abgelaufen ist. Es tut mir selber leid, aber bei mir blieb die große Begeisterung aus, weil nicht wirklich was Überraschendes oder Neues gekommen ist, irgendwie war es zu mau. Obwohl ich aber ihren Onkel Scott ganz toll fand, und schade, dass am Ende nicht noch mehr mit ihm, oder zusammen mit seiner Frau war. Oder auch nicht mehr Begebenheiten mit ihrer Freundin Lacy gekommen ist, welche ich auch sehr interessant fand. Als nächsten kommt dann im Herbst/ Winter 2013 ‚Crash into You‘ welche Isaiahs Geschichte sein wird. Momentan freue ich mich nicht besonders darauf, weil mir Isaiah auch noch nicht so ans Herz gewachsen ist, aber ich werde es trotzdem lesen, weil ich die Reihe doch abschließen möchte. Particularly because now it was about Beth, who though seemed to me in the first book a little bit unfriendly, but has already shown in the first part briefly, that her life isn’t anything but perfect and hence, I could understand her behavior and also her defense. As well as also here in the second part, in which I still got a lot bigger and more exact look at Beth and her life – particularly on her mother and her relation to her, and also on her flubbed childhood, which I even wouldn’t wish my worst enemy. Therefore I can understand as already said, Beth’s reticence and her actions, which would have led to shaking my head with any other character. Beth often runs away and wants to close her eyes before problems, but then her uncle Scott gets custody for her, she has to live with him and his wife and there she gets to know the sportsman and god-boy Ryan. And, yes, here we also have found our romantic, male protagonist of the book. First I had my problems with Ryan because he apparently has everything what one can wish for and looked rather superficial. But luckily this has changed during the book and a part for it, was probably also due to the fact that he’s a baseball player, a sports with which I have no interest in it at all. Luckily this aspect became less and less. ;) I find Ryan was quite okay and a nice character, and then also Beth was a better, but they weren’t as awesome as the couple Noah and Echo from the first book. Unfortunately here I’ve missed this ‘wow-effect’, for which I can’t really find a reason. Other readers often don’t like it, that in a further book you still see how happy the couple from a previous book is, when they whisper sweet nothings and kisses and so on, but I found that nice and I liked it, that Echo and Noah also showed-up it this book briefly – very briefly – and that they are still happy. I find something like that always absolutely sweet and also okay, if it’s not too much as it was here. What has disturbed me very much was the fact that there were many clichés in the book, especially Beth, who comes from bad house, and Ryan, from a putatively intact, good and rich family. Also the bet, the reason because he has spoken at first to Beth, was not for my taste. It was not original and too similar to ‘Perfect Chemistry#1’ by Simone Elkeles, even if it has turn into a differently course. I’m really sorry, but for me the big enthusiasm was missing, because there happened much surprising or special things in it, anyhow it was just too poor. Although I found her uncle Scott very great and it was a pity that at the end, there wasn’t more with him, or more together with him and his wife – or also that there weren’t any more occurrences with her friend Lacy, which I found also very interesting and I liked her at first sight. At next the third book is coming out in autumn/ winter 2013‚ which will be called ‘Crash into You’, which will host the story of Isaiah. At the moment I’m not so glad about it, because right now I don’t really care much about Isaiah, but I will read it nevertheless, because I would like to conclude the whole series. I've received an ARC of this in exchange of a honest review Publicado originalmente en: El Extraño Gato del Cuento Con Dare To You quedé un poco decepcionada, después de leer Pushing The Limits tenía grandes expectativas que lamentablemente la segunda parte no llegó a completar, pero aun así cuando tuve la oportunidad de leer Crash Into You, solo no pude dejarla pasar. A pesar de que me gustó un montón, no voy a negar que tiene varios puntos en contra el libro, por ejemplo el hecho que Katie ya tiene una cronología marcada en los tres libros que leído de ella: Insta-love, quiero-no-quiero, Chico hace algo tonto que o nos hace llorar o solo "arruina" las cosas con la chica, chica hace algo que podría en poner en peligro su vida y luego el final feliz. Lo que salva al libro es la narración de McGarry es muy adictiva, y por más que ya tenga las pautas de como irá el libro, de vez en cuando llega a sorprenderte, al menos a mí, en una escena me tuvo llorando y para luego poner mi poker face. En serio, Katie hace un trolleada bien malvada en el libro. La historia es entretenida, quise odiar a Rachel pero no pude, es tan linda la maldita, como un conejito. Isaiah perfecto, personajes secundarios memorables, la más resaltante sin duda es Abby, se roba todo el protagonismo, ojalá Katy nos de su historia. Otro punto negativo, es que todos sus personajes son tan pálidos, no hay diversidad, y leyendo un avance del siguiente libro (así de VIP soy) no va cambiar mucho eso, al menos con los protagonistas. No niego que tengo debilidad por este tipo de libros ¿Chico malo tatuado? Casi siempre es algo muy atrayente para mí, lo bueno es que la escritora no se conforma con el protagonismo del Bad Boy, he ahí mi razón de que Rachel no me caiga mal. Es débil físicamente pero no se deja amedrentar, eso me gusta. Una cosa curiosa que me pasó con el libro es esta: Amo los carros, los adoro como no tienen idea y la verdad es que cuando Rachel e Isaiah hablaban de carros me sentía la chica tonta que solo asiente aunque no tiene idea de que hablan, con mucha vergüenza confieso que no sé de carros, más allá de cuál es bonito. Historia entretenida, fácil de leer, enamorarte un rato, me gustó. Eso es lo que hace una buena narración. Publicado Originalemente: El Extraño Gato del Cuento Esta es la historia de Beth. Sé que muchos se preguntarán: ¿Beth no quedó con Isaiah? ¿Quién es ese Ryan que viene a malograrlo todo? Si tuviste un ataque de celos como yo (ojalá, porque no quiero sentirme la única loca), aquí viene la respuesta, a Katie le encanta hacer sufrir a su lectores. Personalmente tenía una valla muy alta con tRompiendo las Normas, la historia tomó los tópicos de toda la vida y lo hizo algo bastante diferente, así que Dare You To lo tenía un poco difícil conmigo. La narrativa de McGarry sigue siendo muy entretenida, con un lenguaje fluido y muy buenos diálogos. Solo que el libro no me gustó tanto como el anterior. Ryan me parece demasiado simple, no porque sea "un chico bueno", sé que tengo debilidad por los bad boys, pero eso no tiene nada que ver, solo que Ryan como personaje protagonista no me convenció, no me hizo surgir ningún apasionamiento hacia él. La verdad es que Ryan no tiene mucha gracia. Es lindo, pero ahí nada más. Yo sé que una gran preocupación para gran cantidad de los que esperaban el libro era Beth-Isaiah. Luego de leer la sinopsis ya me veía odiando el libro, a Beth y/o Katie. Yo tengo un trauma con la traición (tan solo de pensar en una me hace doler el corazón) Katie lo supo manejar bien, no sé si me hice a la idea muy rápido o qué, lo lamenté por Isaiah pero citando a otro libro: "When is right..." No lo tengo especialmente ningún voto negativo o alguna razón importante para criticar el libro, sinceramente me gustó pero no logré conectar completamente con los protagonistas. Rompiendo las Normas conquistó mi corazón de una manera que Dare You To no pudo, quizá porque tenía algunas semejanzas con Noah y Echo, algo que no pasó en ésta segunda parte de la serie. Katie no exagera con los clichés, dándonos una trama directa, con un argumento que con muchos otros escritores pudo ser tan solo uno más pero que ella vuelve memorable. Si bien Dare You To no se ha vuelto mi favorito, pasé un buen momento leyendo y espero ansiosa la tercera parte de la serie: Crash Into You (Pushing The Limits #3) ¡La historia de Isaiah!
