Should I give five stars because it is so much better than the other stuff that I've read in the last weeks? Or should I give it four stars because it is a bit slow and uneventful comparing to the other Wheel of Time-books I've read?
I still like all the characters and that it's written from so many point of views. (Aside from the Black Ajah or mysterious dark characters that are only relevant to remind the reader of the evil that is coming sloooowly.) I still enjoy reading about Aes Sedai and the adventures of the Accepted now Aes Sedai and Amyrlin Seat. I still like that the main characters aren't always on the same page and not always best friends. Mat is a bit exhausting, especially with the other main characters but I really liked that Perrin is finally back in action again, that means not in the Two Rivers but with his friends and the Dragon Reborn.
All in all it felt like the beginning of a book and not a book on its own. I imagine it could be way too long for some readers but this is epic fantasy and epic means long. I really really love a book with many pages and I loved "Lord of Chaos" although not too much happens if you don't count a lot of sweating and learning how not to sweat any longer, talking, trying to play the Game of Houses and trying to recover ancient knowledge that is sometimes found and more often left to discover in the next novels.
I can't wait to read on.
I can't believe I, of all people, am saying this but this was just very long, but I liked a lot of the developments and things that happened for the characters. The ending also has some implications that I'm excited for.
