ARC by NetGalley: I haven't read any of Terry Brooks, especially something from the Shannara series before, but wanted to try it anyway. And it worked just fine. This series takes place 150 years after the last book and is only loosely connected to the older books, so you don't need any previous knowledge to understand the world. Overall this was book was a mediocre fantasy read. The story nothing new. Boy discovers his magic abilities, get's some training in some order, is send to a few quests etc. Everything felt quite stereotypical and predictable about the plot and the characters. I would recommend this book more to kids or fantasy novices. A light, feel good fantasy novel, similar in the style to the Drizzt Do'Urden series.
