I began reading this book thinking it was a sequel not a prequel so this initially threw me off. Even though I could (in bits) figure the ending of this book from the first one it still came as a devastating blow to the guts. (It's worth it though once you reach the epilogue trust me!) PS : I highly recommend reading this AFTER "the girl with all the gifts" and not before even though it's a prequel.
