Ich wiederhole hier einfach, was ich bereits zu den Leseabschnitten gesagt hatte: Ca. 75% des Buches nervten mich. Sehr! Bellas Reaktion auf Edwards Fortgehen ist überzogen, sogar für verliebte-Teenager-Verhältnisse. Es ist nicht okay, so an jemandem festzuhalten. Man sollte sich stattdessen bemühen, weiterzuleben, man sollte seine Eltern nicht belügen und seine Freunde nicht ausbeuten und vor allem auf sich selbst achten. Bella spielt allen vor, dass es ihr gut geht, obwohl es ihr noch nie so schlecht ging. Es ist keine Schande einzugestehen, dass es einem schlecht geht!!! Bella nervte mich auch im weiteren Verlauf sehr - Achtung, hier folgen Spoiler! Sie erfährt, dass Jacob ein Werwolf ist und ihr erster Gedanke ist, dass etwas mit IHR nicht stimmen muss, weil sie fantastische Wesen anzieht... Dann springt sie eine Klippe hinunter, während alle versuchen, sie zu beschützen. Ein kleines bisschen egoistisch. Insgesamt wird mit diesem Band ein völlig falsches Bild von Liebe, Liebeskummer und Mental Health vermittelt und ich bin wirklich besorgt, was Kiddies aus dem Buch mitnehmen. Auf der anderen Seite war ich 16, als ich das Buch zum ersten Mal gelesen und geliebt habe und aus mir ist auch etwas geworden... Die restlichen 25% liebte ich. Sehr! Ich liebe Jacob und die Wolfjungs. Und hasse es gleichzeitig, dabei zusehen zu müssen, wie Jacob sich bereitwillig von Bella ausnutzen lässt. Trotzdem bringt er eine Leichtigkeit in die ansonsten sehr depressive Geschichte. Mit der Rückkehr von Alice kehren wir von der Liebeskummer-Werwolf-Story zurück zur Liebes-Vampir-Story. Und endlich kommt ein wenig Spannung und Action und ja, ein PLOT, auf! Diese letzten 25% konnten mich dann wieder total fesseln, sodass ich mich jetzt auf Band 3 freue! Da das Buch für mich sehr durchwachsen ist, ich die Reihe aber liebe, schwanke ich hier irgendwo zwischen 3 und 4 Sternen.

I have to be honest here: this book could be half the size it actually is. While rereading Twilight I felt super nostalgic, and I enjoyed myself so much, but this book just dragged on for so long, and it wasn't particularly enjoyable to reread. Most of the conflict in this book could be resolved in 2 pages, and it annoyed me so much how IMMATURE all of the characters were, and how annoying their dialog was to me. This definitely did not put me into the mood to reread the rest of the series anytime soon. All of this said I did appreciate the world-building in it since we got a lot more background information on vampires etc., but other than that, I just didn't have a good time reading this book.

After liking Twilight more than I had expected and also everybody (especially my (then) 14-year-old cousin whom I consider to be a very intelligent young girl) told me that the book was better than the movie, I decided to give this one a chance. I can tell you it was hardly bearable. I listened to New Moon on Audio. That probably was a fault. if I had read it I could have skipped through several pages. With the audio version, this wasn't so easy. A few things are official now: - The movie is better than the book - it only takes about 2 hours and that definitely is more than enough time. The Audio version has 12 CDs. On the first 5 of them nothing happens. Maybe on CD 8 you have the cliff-diving scene. On CD 10/11 we finally meet the Volturi. At the middle of CD 11 Bella is home again. But then it goes on for another 1.5 hours druing which - I guess you can imagine - nothing happens. - I also wouldn't have enjoyed this book as a teenager. - I enjoy stories where something is actually happening. Not every book I read is full of action. But if hardly anything is happening the rest of the story at least has to have some deeper meaning. New Moon entirely lacks both. - I absolutely don't understand why this series was such a success. To mean it seems that the vampire and werewolf parts were just added to make a teenie's diary a little more interesting. Apart from that there is nothing special about the story.
