Such a great book!! Since I really liked the movie “Summer 85” I also had to read the book it was based on called “Dance on my grave”. Book and movie are pretty similar even though there are some major differences such as the country where they’re based in. The movie plays in France while the book takes place in England. But despite its differences, I really liked how Hal (Henry) expresses himself throughout the book. His way of describing , defining and explaining how he feels/felt in certain situations was incredible. I loved its rather poetic style, which could be a bit hard at some point for people who learned the English language instead of having it as their first language, just like me. If I’m being honest, since I knew this book will be about death and tragic love, I hoped that it would emotionally touch me and maybe even make me cry, but in the end I felt nothing really intense. But what I really liked was the honest and real talk of Kari and Hal in the end. Her words were on point and eye opening for Hal, like a reality check he didn’t ask for but very much needed. Overall I’d recommend this book, even though I was hoping for it to contain more content of their relationship as lovers (it wasn’t really necessary but I would’ve liked to read more about them together).
