Worked much better as a musical than as a book. In fact, it reminded me of the book version of Legally Blonde (did you even know there was one?) in that it felt like a book that was just waiting to be turned into something else. The author was a journalist and he should have stayed there.
3,5 ⭐ I can't decide if I liked the book or not. It certainly wasn't bad, definitely a page-turner at times but I don't know. Something was missing. I didn't really got into the characters and the story turned out pretty random when I anticipated a big reveal.
We find our little group having to find the last missing artefact in the last house. With everything they need, they find themselves having to battle with the council (and nozy neighbors) as Helena realizes her values are more important than some treacherous members of her family. With help, will they manage to make things change for the better? 2 main reasons why I really checked out with this book : 1. There were too many plot lines going on, some of what goes on here really should've been part of book two to balance out the fact that nothing happens in book 2 and everything happens in this one. 2. the things that happens seemed to not make that much sense? How is Helena a super powerful legacy witch and Byron a demi-god with 2 werewolves, a witch, a vampire and a helf-incubus keep losing ? That was really frustrating. If the characters are amazing, don't make them loose so much, it feels frustrating. The romance was what redeemed the book for me, this book if the catalysis of the RH, they figure out how to work together and how to form a romatic relationship all 5 of them, and that was cool. Overall, it's an okay series, the first book is much better than what follows, though, which is a shame.
