This book was the definition of a slow burn, and I mean a very slow burn. You definitely need some patience for this one, but overall, it was a solid read. ​I absolutely loved Vanessa. She is so strong in knowing exactly what she wants out of life and has the drive to achieve it. Aidan, on the other hand, was a bit of a challenge for me. I honestly couldn't stand him for almost the first half of the book, but he eventually grew on me, and I ended up liking him much more than I expected. Also, I have to mention Zac. He was such a funny and adorable character who really brightened up the story for me. If I’m being honest, though, there were a few things that tested my patience. The chapters felt super long to me, and I think the story would have flowed better if they were a bit shorter. Also, I definitely understood that Aidan was "big and muscular" the first time it was mentioned, I didn’t really need the constant reminders. I also found myself wishing they would just communicate more. I would have given anything to get some chapters from Aidan’s perspective just to understand his past and what was going on in his head. Even with this being said, it was still a good read. If you have the patience for a long, steady climb to a "happily ever after," you’ll definitely enjoy this one!

3,5* puh schwierig. ich mochte vieles an dem Buch. es hatte tolle Charaktere, wenn auch einige vollkommen irrelevant für die Story waren. es hatte eine süße lovestory, die allerdings maximal 1/4 vom Buch ausgemacht haben. und das Buch war so unglaublich lang für die Art von Story. es hat 2:30h gedauert bis die Einleitung fertig war. und da waren wir noch lange nicht bei der lovestory. die szenen mit ihrer Familie habe ich einfach übersprungen. ich fand sie ebenfalls irrelevant für die Story. es ist als hätte die Autorin ihre Notizen eingearbeitet. anstatt zu sagen "Narbe am Knie von einem Unfall"muss da gleich eine narzisstische, Suchtkranke und psychopathische Familie her. bisschen viel Background dafür dass nichts wirkliches damit gemacht wurde (big guy droht und guckt böse, fertig). ansonsten hat mir der Schreibstil gut gefallen. wer eine lovestory, die zwar lang dauert aber verhältnismäßig wenig längen hat sucht und dabei mit klar kommt dass romantik wirklich nicht aufkommt weil am Ende keine Zeit dafür blieb und es seltsame Zwischensequenzen gibt wird dieses Buch mögen. wer es nicht spicy mag sollte die letzten paar Seiten/ 15 Minuten einfach überspringen. enttäuschendes Ende für mich und etwas zu viele offensichtliche Trigger für eine Liebesgeschichte triggerwarnung häusliche Gewalt in verschiedenen Arten, kindliche Vernachlässigung, Alkoholismus, Drogenmissbrauch(offscreen, kurze Erwähnung), eingesperrt sein, Angst im Dunkeln, Beleidigungen, Tod von Angehörigen (erwähnt), Scheinehe, Gewalt im allgemeinen,

Den Slow Burn und den Marriage of Convenience Trope fand ich hier sehr gut umgesetzt. Es hat sich gar nicht gehetzt angefühlt und ihre Beziehung hat sich sehr authentisch entwickelt. Auch die Charakterentwicklung hat mir gut gefallen. Ich finde, dass Aidens POV noch ein wenig gefehlt hat und man hätte noch etwas mehr auf seinen Background eingehen können. Das hätte seinem Charakter einfach noch mehr Tiefe gegeben. Über Vanessa hat man hier einfach mehr erfahren und deshalb war sie als Charakter etwas greifbarer. Insgesamt hat mir die Story und die langsame natürliche Entwicklung zwischen den beiden aber sehr gut gefallen!

Ich habe mich am Anfang echt mit dem Schreibstil bzw. der Art, die Geschichte zu beginnen, schwergetan😅. Es waren zu viele unnötige kleine Details in den ersten Kapiteln. Warum musste ich wissen, an welchen Wochentagen Vanessa Aidens Bettwäsche wäscht? Klar dienten manche Details zur Charakterisierung, aber vieles war einfach überflüssig. Aiden mochte ich zu Beginn auch überhaupt nicht🤷‍♀️. Sein Verhalten gegenüber Vanessa war unterste Schublade (und ich hätte es ihm an ihrer Stelle nicht verziehen, wenn er auf meiner Türschwelle gestanden hätte). Tatsächlich entwickelt er sich aber positiv und ich konnte seine grummelige, kurzangebundene Art immer mehr leiden. Vanessa mochte ich von Beginn an unfassbar gerne🥰. Mit ihrer fröhlich, freundlichen Art hat sie sich schnell in mein Herz geschlichen. Ich konnte ihre Lebenssituation verstehen und mochte, wie sie für ihre Ziele gekämpft hat. Und irgendwie haben die beiden Protagonisten zusammengepasst, obwohl sie doch so verschieden sind. Der Slow Burn war wirklich toll umgesetzt, die Gefühle entwickeln sich langsam und die Liebesgeschichte überzeugt mit vielen realistischen Momenten🥺🫶. Es ist weniger romantisch und dafür mehr ehrlich gewesen, mit kleinen Augenblicken, in denen man zwischen den Zeilen lesen musste. Ich habe auch geliebt, wie sie ab einem gewissen Zeitpunkt füreinander eingestanden sind😮‍💨🤌. Außerdem war es schön, dass die Liebesgeschichte ohne viel Drama (außer dem Slow Burn) ausgekommen ist. Die familiären Backgrounds der Protagonisten hätten gerne noch einen größeren Teil einnehmen dürfen. Gerade Aiden hätte sich hier irgendwie mehr öffnen können, sodass die Verbindung zwischen ihm und Van eben an Tiefe gewinnt. Die Freundschaft zwischen Zac und Van war außerdem eine schöne Ergänzung🤭. Insgesamt eine tolle Slow Burn Romance, die mich in ihrer Entwicklung fesseln konnte🥰. Das wird definitiv nicht mein letztes Buch der Autorin gewesen sein.

Endlich mal wieder eine Liebesgeschichte, die sich nicht auf den ersten Seiten entscheidet! Mariana Zapata lässt sich viel Zeit, die Beziehung zwischen Vanessa und Aiden wachsen zu lassen und sorgt dann dafür, dass man richtig mit fiebert. Vanessa kommt anfangs ein wenig 08/15, schüchtern und fast langweilig rüber. Das ändert sich aber. Das ein oder andere Geheimnis wird gelüftet und relativ schnell wird klar, wie tough sie eigentlich ist. Ganz anders bei Aiden. Er ist selbstbewusst und verschwiegen, aber gleich am Anfang schon interessant, weil man ihn nicht einordnen kann. Er ist kein Weiberheld, kein humorvoller, charmanter Typ, aber Mariana Zapara schafft es auch bei ihm, dass man ihn ins Herz schließt. Die humorvollen Momente haben mir natürlich wieder besonders gut gefallen. Die ein oder andere Nebengeschichte, wie der der besten Freundin, kamen mir jedoch etwas zu kurz. Mit dem Herz durch die Wand ist auf jeden Fall ein Pageturner, mit dem man nicht viel falsch machen kann :)

4.5 wonderful stars I wish I would have read this book before "Wait for it" because what do you mean Diana still has her brother around???? All the snipets that we got about him totally made me cry. It was just so sad to read about a Diana that is not a guardian of her two wonderful nephews and still has her beloved brother around. My sweet Diana, what she still had to endure throughout the book is just unfair to me. She deserves the absolute best and I’m so glad that Dallas is now making sure of that. So now lets move on to the actual characters of the book. Van and Aiden really made sure that I had a good time. I really liked the beginning where we got to see how she managed the life of a full grown ass man, who has a ton of money, completely ALONE while still having her own life. Such a powerfull woman. I have actually no idea how she was able to do that for two years straight. It was also beautiful to see her blossom in her own life after she quitt her job, and her friendship with Zac was also one of my favorite parts of the book. (I hope he gets his own book!) Aiden was a total grump, and I don't know how anyone could ever top that quality. The guy didn't have any friends before Van, and that's actually so sad because he had no idea how to show Vanessa that he appreciated her. But as the book progressed, he slowly warmed up to her, and it was really nice to see their friendship, and later, their love, develop.

8/10 Questo storia l'ho amata perché mi rispecchiavo con i personaggi. Vanesse è un personaggio forte e indipendente, proprio come Aiden. Aiden rimane quel protagonista maschile tipico della Zapata: vero e credibile. è una storia semplice e comunque che ti arriva dentro se riesci a immaginarti cosa avresti fatto tu in quella situazione. La Zapata è la scoperta (autori romance) di quest'anno. La adoro.

OKAYY so this book is 5 stars for me !! I loved it, the plot, the characters, the dynamic between them both etc etc. I loved the slowburn, this book was 516 pages long and I enjoyed every page🤭. The slowburn was a REALLY REALLY slowburn like idk how to explain it but it only got juicy in the very end of the book (and no I’m not only here for the smut or whatsoever I’m just saying that even in some slow burn books it moves a bit faster with everything). But it never got boring like there was always smth going on with them, their family, friends and so much more. I loved the angst each of them had, for example the way Vanessa doesn’t have a good relationship with her family (except her brother) and there was always some kind of drama going on. Aiden is described as cocky,arrogant,rude,stubborn, cold and serious (etc). Even though that is true, I still LOVED him idk bro. He never came across as the person to be like that on purpose and he was never mean to someone in particular out of spite or smth but that was just how he is. It was clear Aiden was very lonely. And even though Vanessa was also quite lonely sometimes, she had Zac and Diana by her side (I liked those two characters sm btw !! ) I loved how they formed their friendship and both of them wanted to give it their all 😭. Aiden realizing how he cares for her etc. The whole book was written in Vanessa’s POV and even though I sometimes hoped we would get an Aiden Pov I still enjoyed it !! It was still obvious how both of them were feeling. I loved their dynamic, the little jokes and how much of a softie Aiden became for Van. The tension was so good. All the little things, how he wanted her to be safe in Las Vegas and worried abt her, how he didn’t hesitate to think abt beating up Ricky for what he did to Van, one sentence: "touch my wife again, and I’ll break every bone in your goddamn body". When he beat up Christian for her AND SO MUCH MORE AAAAA. Vanessa was also a nice character, loved her !! The only thing I didn’t get was why she was still reaching out to her mother and trying to build a relationship - like bro u deserve so much better 😭 but I understand why she did it. She is a strong, passionate character and I could list other things off. When the confession and smut came I was like "BRO OMG😫" the tension was sooo good and the whole book was just generally good written. The end was so cute too 🥹😭

Ich habe die Geschichte geliebt! Die Charaktere waren vielschichtig und die Liebesgeschichte hat sich nach und nach langsam aufgebaut. Slow burn at its finest! Trotzdem war mir die Geschichte eeetwas zu lang und mir hat so ein plottwist oder Wendepunkt gefehlt, weshalb ich bei der Bewertung etwas runtergegangen bin. Trotzdem eine absolute Empfehlung! Cute romance mit happy end!

(Friends, work, hobbies, etc) but idk SLOW BURN for sure. Just wanted a little bit more romance than what I actually got. Also just wasn’t a fan of the ending. Also I kinda hated him the whole time for being an annoying ignorer for 2 YEARS. Hard to get overrrrr

Vanessa has been putting up with Aiden’s grumpy attitude as his personal assistant for two years while she’s been saving enough money to fully focus on her graphic design business. When she tells the Canadian football player that she quits, he doesn’t seem to care. And when she leaves, it is not on good terms - she had overheard his agent Trevor make fun of her behind her back, and Aiden couldn’t be bothered to stand up for her. A month later, Aiden shows up at her doorstep trying to convince her to come back and work for him. And her answer was a clear and resounding NO. But that doesn’t dissuade him, and he keeps showing up every few days with the same request and getting the same answer. Until one day he tells her his work visa is experiencing in a year and he is afraid of being forced to leave the country. When she jokingly tells him to find an American woman to marry, his immediate response is to propose to her. Aiden manages to bribe Vanessa into this fake marriage by promising to pay off her massive student loans, and buying her a house when they have to divorce in five years. Vanessa ends up moving with Aiden and his friend Zac (Hands Down), and they slowly start becoming friends, and eventually fall in love. Reading this book with pink-colored glasses is a lot of fun. If you want to pick things apart, you can find a lot of issues with Vanessa and Aiden’s relationship. But for a fluffy slow-burn romance, it’s as perfect as it gets. I love how Aiden missed her teasing him, and his attempts at teasing her back and joking with her with a straight face were chef’s kiss. I loved the tender moments between them when he twisted his ankle and she brought him his pillow and comforter, or when he helped her through her panic attack in the elevator and during the thunderstorm, or when he showed up in Toronto to keep her company during the book convention, or especially when he showed up at the end of her marathon. I also love Zac!! The reason a reread of this book happened now is because I just finished Hands Down, and it took way too long to realize it was the same Zac from this book. I LOVE his friendship with Vanessa, and how he called her Mrs. Graves. Also, I hated Trevor less knowing that regardless of his attitude, at heart he was a softie with Bianca. Rereading this book after Wait For It made me feel less horrified at Diana’s storyline in this one, knowing that all of the hardship that she goes through in this book and later will lead her to her happily ever after with Dallas.

Ich liebe Sports Romance und das Buch hat mich nicht enttäuscht! Es ist ein Slow-Burn, ich konnte beim lesen genau nachvollziehen, wie sich die Gefühle aufgebaut haben und es war wirklich wunderschön. Es passieren nicht so viele aufregende Dinge, aber eine sehr schön Geschichte über Aiden und Vanessa 🫶🏼

Okay y'all hear me out Mariana Zapata is the queen of Slow burns as we all know, this book had me on edge the whole time I was just waiting for something to happen and as soon as a little thing happened l was so shocked and happy at the same time it was crazy. It was such a good read and it was hard not do pull a all nighter for it. It is a workplace romance, a marriage of convenience and a grump/ sunshine story and it is just amazing. You will not want to put this book down 100%

This was not From Lukov with love. It was good, but not my favorite. I felt like the writing was a little more repetitive and that got on my nerves from time to time. Couldn't connect to the characters as much and the atmosphere and tension between them wasn't as good as in FLWL. Unfortunately I am going to stop reading the epilogue of her books, they are just too perfect and cheesy for me. I don't care if they are married with 3846237856 kids in a few years, I just want the books to stop in the moment. Other than that, it was good. I enjoyed my time reading it and flew through this massive book.

Wer ein schnelles, heißes Intermezzo sucht, ist hier an der falschen Adresse. Vielmehr erhält man eine authentische süße Romanze. Für mich eine Empfehlung, für Leute, die romantische Geschichten mögen!

Ich hatte schon viel von der Autorin gehört und auch ein Buch empfohlen bekommen, daher war ich sehr gespannt auf mein erstes Buch von Mariana Zapata. Leider muss ich jedoch sagen, dass mir "Mit dem Herz durch die Wand" so gar nicht zugesagt hat. Schon zu Beginn hatte ich den Eindruck, dass sich die Geschichte sehr in die Länge zieht und das hat sich im Verlaufe des Buches leider auch nicht gegeben. Ich bin zwar auch kein Fan von "instalove", aber die Entwicklung der Beziehung zwischen Vanessa und Aiden war mir einfach zu zäh und langgezogen. Für mich war auch keine Chemie zwischen den Charakteren, kein Prickeln was einen mitfiebern lässt. Dies hat das Buch für mich leider zu einer sehr langweiligen Angelegenheit gemacht und ich war am Ende einfach nur froh fertig zu sein. Auch die Charaktere selbst konnten mich einfach nicht überzeugen. Sie hatten leider nichts, was mich begeistert hat oder die beiden zu etwas besonderem gemacht hat. Der Schreibstil an sich war prinzipiell ok, aber wie gesagt war die Handlung zu sehr in die Länge gezogen. Das Buch hätte gut 100 Seiten weniger haben können, vielleicht wäre dadurch ein wenig mehr Spannung in die Geschichte gekommen.
