The short story collection „Beasts and Beauty“ by Soman Chainani takes twelve classic fairytales and gives them a modern twist. The book has great illustrations by Julia Iredale which really enhanced my reading experience. My favorite retellings where „The Little Mermaid“ with Arielle second guessing her decisions and „Peter Pan“ where Wendy falls for a pirate. I did struggle at times with the writing style but overall I enjoyed this collection.
