📑 "Since we're trying to avoid suspicion on our way in, I'd rather not leave eighteen bodies behind us." This was a re-read for me, since I enjoyed it a lot the first time around and wanted to dive back into this before picking up the sequel. Re-listening to the story made me remember how much fun I had with it! 📑 "Will you catch me if I fall?" "No, but I'll wave at you on your way down." I still can't decide, whether to give it 4,5 or 5 stars. Usually, rounding up would be the cue, but with five stars I need them to spark something special in me; a feeling like a story has been written for me, and I'm not sure if this book can quite reach that state. Amazing, none the less! 📑 "I found a new vocation." "Stalking me?" "Wanting you." Tor ... I'm in love. Can he look at me and talk to me and want me like he looks at, talks to and wants Wren? Please? Thanks in advance. (Why isn't he blonde though? I thought, he was blonde?) 📑 "Remind me why I decided to bring you with me?" "Because your grandmother told you to," said Shen. I just wonder - had I physically read the story, would I have loved Shen better than Tor? He has great lines, sharp and witty replies, so ... probably. 📑 "You are the thing you fear most." His face softened. "And are you really so scary?" I just really liked the calm voice of the narrator of Wrens chapters (Ell Potter) aka the one who gave Tor their voice - and I think I kinda fell for that. Speaking of the audiobook: Highly recommend it. It's narrated by two women - one for each sister - and that worked very well. 📑 Fear suddenly consumed by wonder. The story was sweet and cozy, intense and deep. Sisterhood and friendship played a huge role, we get a villain to despise, a badass grandmother, an amazing animal companion and a prickling love story! 📑 Wren was still chewing on the idea, but she certainly liked the way it tasted. Wren is still my favourite of the two sisters. I think Rose is a bit annoying at times. 📑 "You have nothing to wager but your arrogance." The ending is a bit rude. Doesn't leave you physically hanging, but emotionally you will lose steady ground. I can't wait to continue with this series. I wonder though ... am I delusional or is there going to be a love triangle? I adore Tor and Wren together, they have great chemistry and sparks! But... was there some kind of tension between Wren and Alarik? Or is my imagination too vivid, playing tricks with me?
