Es ist sehr flüssig geschrieben und das Worldbuilding ist toll. Man kann sich aufjedenfall vorstellen wie die Welt aussieht und auch Gerüche wurden sehr lebhaft beschrieben. Die Protas sind vielschichtig und sind alle sehr eigen aber liebenswürdig ( vor allem Fynn ). Lore empfand ich als sehr lieb aber auch sehr neugierig und willensstark. Gerade weil sie aus einem kleinen und unterdrücktem Dorf kommt ist es interessant wie mutig sie ist. Die Story ging schnell voran aber wurde nie langweilig, da es vor allem um die Unterschiede zwischen Menschen und Fae etc. ging. Durch die Magie und wie sie funktioniert wurde es nie langweilig.Lore verbringt eine Menge der Zeit in einer Bibliothek, was für mich als Leserinn ja einem Traum ähnelt. Der Romance Aspekt kam auch nicht zu kurz in der Geschichte aber nahm auch nicht überhand. Etwas Spice gab es natürlich auch aber es war eher dezent gehalten und hat meiner Meinung nach sehr gut gepasst( mir persönlich ist Spice nicht so wichtig). Was mich ein wenig gestört hat war das Ende, da es etwas plötzlich kam und auch der Plottwist wie aus dem Nichts kam. Ich denke mal das sollte auch so sein aber für mich hatte es nicht so viel Sinn ergeben. Allerdings bin ich sehr gespannt auf den nächsten Teil, da ich mir nicht vorstellen kann in welche Richtung es von dort an geht.

2,5/5 ⭐️ Ich hatte mich so auf Lore of the Wilds gefreut, aber das war einfach nichts für mich. Von Anfang an hatte ich Schwierigkeiten in die Geschichte hereinzukommen und das hat sich bis zum Ende durchgezogen. Das Worldbuilding ist eigentlich richtig interessant gewesen und die Autorin hat dieses gut ausgearbeitet. Mein Problem lag allein bei den Gefühlen, die dieses Buch vermittelt hatte. Für mich waren es nämlich keine. Lore of the Wilds war mir egal. Die Figuren hatten für mich keine Chemie, die Storyline war in alle Richtungen verstreut und ich konnte sie einfach nicht nachvollziehen. Lore als Protagonistin wirkte eindimensional und ihre Love Interests auch. Das Ende der Geschichte habe ich geliebt. Das fand ich wirklich spannend und unvorhersehbar. Ich hätte mir gewünscht, dass das ganze Buch so gewesen wäre. Ich hatte immer wieder Momente, in denen ich mir gedacht hatte: Oh ja, jetzt wird es interessant. Jetzt wächst Lore. Jetzt beginnt die Handlung. Aber so schnell wie diese Momente kamen, so verflogen sie auch wieder. In dieser Story steckt so viel Potenzial und vielleicht hat Band 2 dieses auch ausgeschöpft, aber für mich reicht dieser Gedanke nicht, um diese Reihe weiterzulesen. Dabei hatte ich mich wirklich sehr auf diese Reihe gefreut gehabt und der Cliffhanger war wirklich spannend. Trotzdem: Das war einfach nichts für mich.

Das ist wirklich eins der schönsten Bücher in meinem Regal und als ich gesehen hab, dass es eine Fortsetzung geben wird wollte ich es es endlich mal lesen. Es ging auch zunächst interessant los: Menschen die von den Fae unterdrückt werden und die Protagonistin Lore die ihr Volk retten will und sich deshalb in die Hände der Fae begibt. Auch das dann entstandene Bibliothekssetting hat mir sehr gut gefallen aber spätestens ab der Mitte des Buches ging mir Lore dann irgendwann total auf die Nerven. Ständig hat sie sich von einer unüberlegten dummen Aktion in die nächste manövriert und musste teils wie die Jungfrau in Nöten gerettet werden. Zwar entwickelte sie sich auch im Laufe des Buches, aber es fühlte sich häufig nur wie eine Aneinanderreihung von Plotlines an statt einer zusammenhängenden Geschichte. Die Romance habe ich auch nicht so sehr gefühlt und den Plottwist am Ende fand ich auch absolut bescheuert. Das Buch hatte Potenzial, dieses wurde aber leider nicht genutzt

Tatsächlich konnte mich Lore of the Wilds aber leider nicht vollends überzeugen. Die Idee an sich hat mir gefallen - ein verwunschene Bibliothek, ein Fae Königreich und eine Menschendame, die zunächst dazu gezwungen wird in dieser Bibliothek zu arbeiten und magische Bücher zu finden. Der Erzählstil war angenehm und das Tempo eher ruhig, fast schon cosy. Ich hatte aber Probleme eine Verbindung zu den Charakteren aufzubauen und konnte mich nicht in die Story fallen lassen. Das Ende hat dann überraschend Fahrt aufgenommen und einen gemeinen Cliffhanger gelassen. Sicherlich kein schlechtes Buch, aber für mich auch nur "nett" 🫣

The book started off quite ok and interesting. I felt with the characters and the world setting was nice. The story was a nice read. BUT there are quite a lot of plot wholes. Things that get mentioned and never explained where they came from or just to disappear in the next moment. A scene gets developed over a few pages and than the tension and excitement just disappears So many time jumps, that you feel like looking around to find out where you are all of the sudden. Sometimes characters get mentioned and in the next scene they are forgotten completey. The story sounded so interesting but the writing was so disappointing unfortunately.

If you’re looking for a book that won’t need a lot of braincell capacity but is still nice to read with unexpected turns- go for it. It’s not a big epic worldbuilding and it has its lengths but it’s still a recommendation. Especially for some cozy autumn evenings to come 😃 (I often saw it being compared with ACOTAR and I can only say: don’t do it. You’ll be disappointed and won’t be able to enjoy this book as much as you could. )

Für mich eher Jugendbuch als erwachsene, sexy Romantasy und leider ein eher schwaches noch dazu. Ich fand das Konzept mit der magischen Bibliothek und den bösen Fae gut, nur scheitert es hier an der Umsetzung. Und das „Liebesdreieck“ (das es nicht wirklich gab, meiner Meinung nach 🙄) hätte auch nicht sein gemusst. Schon gar nicht mit der Entwicklung am Ende. Ich werde also die Reihe, wenn es denn eine werden sollte, nicht fortführen 🙈

Naja... Ich hatte mir mehr erhofft vom ersten Buch des neuen Romantasy Subs von Fairyloot. War leider nicht so meins. Für meinen Geschmack zu wenig Spice, die Lovestory zu plötzlich. Man erfährt viel zu wenig über die Charaktere. Die Protagonistin erinnert sich immer zu perfekten Zeiten an irgendwelche Auswege, die sie vor einiger Zeit gelernt hatte und hat dann für jedes Problem eine Lösung parat. Einen roten Faden konnte ich leider auch nicht erkennen. Es wird für meinen Geschmack viel zu viel angerissen und nicht richtig zu Ende erzählt. Für mich ein Buch, das ich morgen schon wieder vergessen habe. Die Grundidee aber durchaus interessant.

This eARC has been waiting in my Kindle for a little bit (I was sadly pretty busy and didn't want to read it in between times), but I'm happy I did wait for when I had enough time on my hands to immerse into the story entirely. Lore of the Wilds is a solid debut novel. When I heard of this book, the story instantly interested me. A library with a deadly enchantment? Fae beings? And magic? Count me in. I generally enjoyed the plot. Even though I was confused by some small little things here and there, it didn't stir me away. I'm unsure if things went over my head or if some aspects just weren't explained. However, I enjoyed the world and lore-building. The author did a great job with that. The library, you guys, the library!! I definitely could've read more of that. The pacing felt off sometimes, but the descriptions were engaging and made me stick around. I still am a little conflicted, though: While this plot covered so much ground, I wished we could've spent more time in each location and with all the characters. Speaking of those, I love it when authors not only put thought into the main cast of characters but also spend enough time crafting the minor characters. Isla and Finn belong on that list. The diverse cast is a strong selling point for this book, with the entire main cast being BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ representation. Lore, as the female lead, is an interesting person. I wasn't entirely satisfied with her character development (some minor things just felt off), but I still liked her. She is compassionate, trying to learn more about the mysteries surrounding her. She is young but not naive or childish, and she isn't mean, but maybe a little too much for her own good. The two main male characters are interesting. I just neither sympathised with them nor disliked them. The reader gets a good idea of Lore, but other characters lack depth in comparison (not all of them; Isla and Finn are very promising). I wanted more interactions. That is probably also why the sparks weren't entirely there. The romance felt a little sudden and rushed. There would've been great potential because the characters are great in themselves. Some things were wrapped up too quickly. The plot twist didn't come as much of a surprise, which isn't a big problem, though. There is a cliffhanger, but nothing too major that we couldn't survive. LotW uses some swear words here and there and is more graphic than I expected for a YA. This is something to keep in mind, as I wouldn't direct it to a young audience. It's fine but nothing more in my opinion. If you like ACOTAR this is probably for you, sadly that isn't for me. The romance felt very flat to me and was mostly based on just sexual attraction and then the author even did the SJM and made the good guy love interest the bad guy and the broody guy the actual good guy. Humans in this world also get oppressed by fae and we have a tiny human girl who is going to change that at the end of the series. Of course the FMC is also your typical "flat enough so that everyone can see themself in her"-type. I guess its nice that black people can finally get that experience but like I said, wasn't for me. Writing is solid though. Not breathtaking but not particularly bad and it just flows. You get what you would expect from a cookie cutter romantasy experience and If that's your jam: go for it!

In the beginning I thought 'oh this is way more entertaining than I thought'. In the middle I thought 'oh how did we get from Chosen One to tavern floors and pumpkin bowl?'. In the end I thought 'oh I need the next book'. This was my journey through this book, meaning this is a hot mess, but an entertaining hot mess. Some spice scenes came out of nowhere and seemed detached to the plot (assuming there was a plot), and the middle part was way too slow paced. Other than that: my gut says 4 stars. But as I said, hot mess. Oh but did I mention magic library? Magic library! I really loved the narrator's voice. This was a big plus too.
