Ich bin echt hin und her gerissen bei dieser Reihe. Die Welt fasziniert mich und zwar so richtig. An jeder Ecke wartet ein Twist und manche Auflösung wirft mehr Fragen auf als sie beantwortet. Livira und Evar sind gleichermaßen sympathisch wie nervig. Einerseits sind die unterschiedlichen Charaktere wie Clovis oder Yute sind einerseits eine Bereicherung, andererseits echt anstrengend. Aber alleine die vielen Momente in denen mich diese Geschichte wieder und wieder beschäftigt hat, macht sie zu etwas besonderem.

Ä Book 2 of the series takes everything I loved about the first and expands it in the best possible ways. The character development is truly amazing — you can feel each character stretching, changing, and revealing new depths as the story unfolds. The way the author weaves a love that moves through time and space is so enchanting, adding an emotional weight that makes every moment hit harder. ✨ I’m also starting to understand just how tangled every character and storyline really is, and it’s incredibly satisfying to see those threads slowly come together. The plot feels bigger, richer, and more intricate, and it kept me fully hooked from start to finish. A wonderfully layered continuation that leaves me eager for more.

Nachdem Teil 1 zu meinen absoluten Lieblingsbüchern der letzten Jahre zählt, habe ich mich sehr auf "the book that broke the world" gefreut. Es ist um einiges kürzer als der Vorgänger, was einerseits schade ist, aber gut zum Spannungsbogen passt. Dieses Mal verfolgen wir (wenn ich mich nicht verzählt habe) vier unterschiedliche Perspektiven, die sich nach und nach in eine Handlung verweben. Genau darin liegt die Stärke und zugleich auch das Problem von Teil 2. Gerade zu Anfang nehmen die neuen Figuren viel Raum ein und die ehemalige Protagonistin Livira bleibt eher passiv. Leider hat sich die dabei entstehende Vorgeschichte für mich als eher vorhersehbar und weniger interessant herausgestellt. Ich hatte nie dieses "Ah-so-war-das-die-ganze-Zeit-Gefühl", sondern hab darauf gewartet, dass meine geliebten alten Figuren endlich wieder in die Handlung eingreifen können und nicht weiter reine Spielbälle der Umstände sind. Als es dann so war und alle Fäden zusammengeführt wurden, haben sich die Stärken der Reihe voll gezeigt. Die Bibliothek bleibt als Ort immer frisch und spannend. Hinter jeder Ecke, in jeder Kammer ist so viel Geschichte, so viel kennenzulernen. Ich will all diese Geheimnisse ergründen und sehen wie die Charaktere mit jeder neuen Offenbarung umgehen. Das Finale hat nachdenklich gemacht, war grausam, spannend, blutig und zugleich melancholisch und ruhig. Ich habe die Höhen und Tiefen und den Zwang, sich entscheiden zu müssen am eigen Leib nachgespürt. Ich würde am liebsten jetzt sofort Teil 3 anfangen und kann jeder Person, die mal etwas andere Fantasy sucht diese tolle Reihe weiterhin wärmstens empfehlen. 4.5 von 5 Sternen

when I finished the first part of the triology it left me with a hunger of curiosity. This time it left me with questions. I don’t know if I really like it or if it’s my eager for finishing books. The different plots and POVs are fierce. But just as complex as the universe is that’s kind of matching tho. I love my characters and hate their destiny. This second book is as dark as the first. Leadership and politics are big in this one. Again you’ll be confronted with questions and sense and get few answers. But as the book itself teaches, the more you know you’ll have to admit that you don’t know enough. I only love the book for the that my brain has to work and how I’m bound to seeking more knowledge. The time lapses, details and connections are mind blowing

This sequel is very different than the previous book: different tone, different writing, different focus. I preferred the first book and couldn't connect with the book that broke the world. The plot consists of a series of adventures aimed at reuniting the characters who were separated at the end of the previous book. The book doesn’t advance the story in terms of character development or worldbuilding. The only new elements are a few new monster species. The story mainly centers around the value of knowledge, but the added depth doesn't make the argument more compelling.

This bookseries touches my heart. The first volume instantly became one of my favourite books, same here with this one. Mark Lawrence is a Genius, I don't know how he does it but his writing style is so unique and beautiful and deep. The characters are multi-layered and everyone has to carry their own burden. It deals with poetic, philosophical, social and moral questions. I like the time concept: everything is connected. If something happens it will matter later. Past/Present/and Future are complexly linked and interwoven. The time-less white assistans, the Exchange, the Portals, the ghosts, the espaces - fascinating. I lost the thread a bit in the middle of the book because it got a bit complicated, but the end was bombastically exciting again

Ich bin definitiv in der Minderheit mit meiner Meinung, aber diese Trilogie scheint nichts für mich zu sein. Schon mit dem ersten Band hatte ich Mühe, aber zum Schluss ging es dann doch. In den zweiten Teil kam ich überhaupt nicht rein und eigentlich interessierte ich mich bloss für Wentworth. Lawrence bringt ein paar gute Twists mit ein, die mich kurzfristig wieder in die Geschichte holten, aber kurz darauf war mein Interesse schon wieder weg. Das erste Buch vermochte es noch, das Ruder herumzureissen, aber hier geschah dies leider nicht. Aber ich seh's schon, dass ich Teil drei trotzdem lesen werde...

The first part I rated 4,25. This one is a 4.0. SPOILERS MAY LAY AHEAD! While the first book focused mainly on the story of Livira an Evar this book got two additional stories. Celcha who at first isn't connected to the actual story and Arpix who received more attention in the second book. I enjoy the style of writing and the world the story I set on; that's why I've bought the second part. The story of Celcha seems a bit far-fetched to me and even with the conclusion at the end of the book when everything comes together I still lack the understanding for the necessity of that extra story. But I like that there has been another unknown plot. I struggled with the love story between Arpix and Clovis since Clovis was driven by hatred for humans and to me it didn't make sense that he could break her that easily. Maybe that's the point of her character development but for me it needed more time. Besides that I loved the story of Arpix and that everyone seems to be stranded in different points of time and places, not knowing what happened to the others. I will definitely read the third book and can recommend book 1 + 2.

This was such a page turner! I‘m not going to lie, the plot-twists in the last quarter of the book really threw me off and are also the reason why this is not a 5 star read. Especially when Kind Oanold reappeared… those who have read the book will know what I mean. It was just a little too much for me. And the ending! Absolutely amazing and gut-wrenching!! Such a cliffhanger and now I have to wait for the next part for who knows how long T.T Mark Lawrence what are you DOING TO ME?
