I love Derek Landy, I love him so much. I really do, although I have to admit that I've only read the first two Skulduggery books so far. As soon as I heard that his new book was coming out just in time for Halloween I knew I had to get it. Well, so here it is. It took me only like four days or so to read it because this book is pure awesomeness. Demon Road is without a doubt one of the most entertaining releases this year and one of the best books I've read so far in 2015. Demon Road tells the story of sixteen year old Amber, average teenage girl with a lack of friends and a huge internet presence which means more to her than her actual real life. Her parents barely acknowledge her existence and spend more time with her weird friends than with her own daughter. Their cruel intentions run much deeper than hurt feelings; they actually want to hurt her what actually forces her to run away if she wants to survive; if she wants to live. But she isn't alone on her journey across the supernatural landscape of America. There is Milo who is being paid handsomely for his services. Milo isn't a father figure, actually he's the total opposite of that. He doesn't speak much and all he wants to do is fullfill the order he was given. They end up being on a road trip to escape her parents but what would a good storyline be without a warmhearted idiot? Glen. An irish annoying young men who has to bear his own deathly cross and who is desperate to be part of Amber's and Milo's journey. I'm still not sure what to think of him. At times I loved him; totally adored him actually but at other times all I wanted to do is slap him right in the face to shut him up. But what he did was, he added a comedic tone to that whole bloody and cruel storyline what I absolutely liked. I also liked that Derek Landy didn't make him a love interest. It was so nice reading a book without a messed up lovestory. I absolutely like Amber. And how much I like her. She's not that typical YA heroine. She's overweight, awkward, average and doesn't look like a supermodel and she always tends to make the wrong desicion BUT she's also strong and tough and i just loved her from the beginning of the book. And then there is Milo. Milo, my bae. I can't even tell you how much I love him. He's awesome; he's my hero. He's always so serious and has so many secrets what makes him so mysterious. He's such an interesting character and super super nice. I fell in love with him right away. There is so much action in this book and so much blood; it's amazing, mind blowing and just so so good. It's the perfect fall read and I can't remember the last time I read such an amazing scary book. The end actually left me behind with a little shock. In the end Amber does something what I haven't expected but this made it even better. Because usually YA authors like to play safe and this book doesn't. Not at all. It's fantastically written and so charming despite all the psychotic demons, witches, vampires, serial killers and so on. I knew that Derek Landy was brilliant but I didn't know that he can be so funny. I simply loved it; well I adored it and I don't want to frikkin' wait so long for the second book to come out. If you haven't read it yet, you should all make sure to pick it up as soon as possible because this book is awesome.

in one summary i read the story is a mix of stephen king books and the tv show supernatural. i don'read kings books ut i'm a supernatural fan since episode 1. i read skullduggery and i thought back than "what a great mind does this man have!" well, like me, landys ideas seem to grow up a bit. the plot is dark, mixed with a lot of creatures that are showed in their whole glory. no censur or something. why should you make a demon nice and just tell how he punch you in the face, if you can go further. this further, well, it came as a suprise. the only thing i not liked that much -but otherwise it seems normal because their are on the demon road - was that milo and amber are heading from one trouble to another. of to book 2 i go!
