Description
Her story begins on a train.
The year is 1956, and the Axis powers of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan rule. To commemorate their Great Victory, they host the Axis Tour: an annual motorcycle race across their conjoined continents. The prize? An audience with the highly reclusive Adolf Hitler at the Victor's ball in Tokyo.
Yael, a former death camp prisoner, has witnessed too much suffering, and the five wolves tattooed on her arm are a constant reminder of the loved ones she lost. The resistance has given Yael one goal: Win the race and kill Hitler. A survivor of painful human experimentation, Yael has the power to skinshift and must complete her mission by impersonating last year's only female racer, Adele Wolfe. This deception becomes more difficult when Felix, Adele's twin brother, and Luka, her former love interest, enter the race and watch Yael's every move.
But as Yael grows closer to the other competitors, can she be as ruthless as she needs to be to avoid discovery and stay true to her mission?

My rating: 4/5 I enjoyed reading Wolf by Wolf although i was skeptical about the motorbicyclerace. Which i actually enjoyed reading. The thing that put me off was the 5 wolves thing. During the book i didn't got what exactly it has to do with the plot. It was clearer in the end but i didn't got everything till i read the group notes who were included in the version i had and asked me the question "Who are your wolves?" The second thing was why can she shift everything but her tattoos are still there. It kind of confused me but it still makes sense when you think about it, because the ink is permanent and it's part of Yael's past. Wolf by Wolf really made me think a lot not only about world war II and ehat could've happen but also about so many other things! What a horrifying scenario: Hitler never being defeated, spreading his power and absurd theories in the whole world. Reading this just made me glad again that Germany lost the second world war. It made for an interesting story nevertheless. And what a ride this was, I didn’t expect this book to be such a page turner. It even made me release a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding once or twice
Her self-reflection was no reflection at all. It was a shattered mirror. Something she had to piece together, over and over again. Memory by memory. Loss by loss. Wolf by wolf.” A strange word. In her past, it had been a light, wispy thing. Crushed as easily as a finger under a guard's boot. But now...now hope weighed so much, as if the Colosseum itself had collapsed on top of her. Mortar and suffering. Brick and time.”
