Description

From the author of The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina:
The witches of New York are back! In the epic conclusion to the award-winning series, the final Mortiz sister's story is told. Infused with Latin American tradition―the Brooklyn Brujas series follows three sisters―and brujas―as they develop their powers and battle magic in their hometown and worlds beyond.
Rose Mortiz has always been a fixer, but lately she's been feeling lost. She has brand new powers that she doesn't understand, and her family is still trying to figure out how to function in the wake of her amnesiac father's return home. Then, on the night of her Deathday party, Rose discovers her father's memory loss has been a lie.
As she rushes to his side, the two are ambushed and pulled through a portal to the land of Adas, a fairy realm hidden in the Caribbean Sea. There Rose is forced to work with a group of others to save Adas. Soon, she begins to discover the scope of her powers, the troubling truth about her father's past, and the sacrifices he made to save her sisters. But if Rose wants to return home so that she can repair her broken family, she must figure out how to heal Adas first.

Getting into this book felt weird at first because we're getting into a new realm with a whole new set of characters. Luckily, the vibe is similar to Alex's adventure in [b:Labyrinth Lost|27969087|Labyrinth Lost (Brooklyn Brujas, #1)|Zoraida Córdova|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1499886128l/27969087._SY75_.jpg|42472829] and both the characters we know already and the ones that are newly introduced are linked to plot lines, characters and tales we know from the books before. In addition, once you are (alongside Rose) over your initial distrust of all of the adas, there's some very interesting and compelling characters that add a lot to the story we know already. I was afraid that with Rose going into another realm without most of her family would mean a lesser focus on the family theme that made me fall in love with this series but my fears turned out to be entirely unwarranted. The family theme and focus is as strong in this book as ever and in my personal opinion possibly even in the most exciting way yet. This feels a lot like the end to a trilogy but I wouldn't mind (I'd actually very much hope so) for another book about Nova's adventure to follow. I feel like he deserves it.
