Description

Some universal truths refuse to be ignored.Peanut butter and jelly are a match made in heaven. Spaghetti and meatballs are best friends forever. And guys like Tyler Knight don’t go for girls like Cam Emerson. She knew from the second she met him that he didn’t belong on her bookshelf, the six-foot-six ex-tight end with a face so all-American, it could have sold apple pie. So she shelved him next to the supermodels and rock stars and took her place on her own shelf — the one with the flannel-clad, pasty-faced comic book nerds. Most of her boyfriends have existed between the pages of books, but rather than worrying over her own lacking love life, she puts all her energy into playing Cupid, using her job at the book bar, Wasted Words, as her stomping ground.Tyler Knight always looks on the bright side. His career-ending injury turned into a job as a sports agent. A horrible breakup led him to Cam, his quirky, smart roommate who is far more beautiful than she realizes. She’s made it perfectly clear she’s not interested in him — not like that at least — but if she ever changes her mind, he won’t hesitate. Because he doesn’t see the lines she’s drawn between them, as much as she insists that they’re there. Deep down he knows that despite their differences, they’re a match well made.*A romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen’s Emma*

DNF @50% - This book was weird. After half of it the story felt "done", so I couldn't get myself to read untill the end.

So lala.

I came across this one on Amazon and fell in love with the series. I've only read very few Jane Austen books, Emma being among them. Wasted Words is a perfectly put together and modern-day version of said book. From page one, I sympathised with the characters - from Cam as the perfect heroine to Bayleigh as one of the loveable minor characters. What is this book about? Cam Emerson and her roommate couldn't be more different: she's a bookish nerd and Tyler Knight the handsome, ex-football player. More surprisingly, they built a friendship, but it is clear that they stay away from any romantic feelings. But what happens when things take a different turn and both want more from this? I hardly ever fall in love with a book after reading only a few pages. Almost instantly I felt right at home, hooked by the characters and the writing style. From the beginning, I enjoyed getting to know the protagonists. Cam and Tyler are interesting characters, and their flaws only make them seem more human and adorable. There wasn't a point throughout the book where I could have lost this feeling of genuity. I loved the setting of the story, and I wish Wasted Words and those single nights were real. As a new fan of Staci Hart, I'm sure it will appeal to other new readers of this author. This book was definitely what I needed and I can't wait to read the follow-ups.
