I'm intrigued enough by the worldbuilding and the mystery tofinish this series, but I do wish the protagonist would finally decide if she's gaslight-gatekeep-girlbossing this whole thing or if she's an innocent victim. One moment she's an unwilling participant who was forced into this situation completely by other people and had no choice and she's angry and sassy about it. Three sentences later its all her fault and she "tainted what they had". Immediately after a new problem arises and this internal conflict about the lying is never thought of again. One moment she wants to sleep with him because she loves him and wants to stay, few sentences later its to secure the alliance and her position in the world and its her only way to have a bit of power in this situation and then afterwards its love again.
