Knew I would hate this and surprise surprise. I HATED it. Literally foaming at the mouth as we speak. The H is one of the most selfish, narcissistic, pathetic, dumbest and worst heroes I've EVER read. This book should have ended with him being trampled to death by horses or pigs or whatever but not with a HEA. He didn't deserve it. He didn't do anything to grovel or fight for her. Speaking of her. The h is a doormat suffering not only from the doormat disease but also from Stockholm syndrome. Your husband abandoned you, CHEATED ON YOU, humiliated you, abused you mentally and emotionally and you feel sorry for him, apologize to him AND FORGIVE HIM? Maybe she deserves to be treated like this if she allowed him to treat her like that. I tolerate a lot in fiction. I read dark/mafia romances, I love toxicity too, I won't even deny it but this is stupidity and where I draw the line. Could have been a 5 star read if she had ended his life and found another man to love.
