Ein weiteres Buch, dem ich nicht entkommen konnte. Ich war auch sehr neugierig darauf, da es ein wenig anders ist, als bisherige YA-Fantasy, die ich gelesen habe. Überhaupt habe ich noch nicht viel zum Thema der amerikanischen Ureinwohner gelesen. Eine ziemliche Lücke, die ich nun auch mehr und mehr füllen möchte. Roanhorse mischt hier Navajo-Traditionen und -Erzählungen mit einer YA-Dystopie. Ein sehr spannender Mix, der aber noch etwas ausgearbeitet werden muss. Viele Kampfszenen brauchen noch mehr Tempo, die Charaktere sind zwar interessant, aber noch nicht richtig ausgearbeitet. Dennoch fand ich die Lektüre sehr interessant. Die Götter sind neu, die Begriffe aus der Sprache der Navajo unbekannt und das hat mich enorm fasziniert. Auch die Wüstenszenerie hat mir Eindruck gemacht. Ansonsten ist das Buch oft blutig, bzw. es fängt bereits sehr blutig an. Mir persönlich gefällt sowas ja. Es passt zu der Welt, die Roanhorse geschaffen hat. Eine Welt ohne Wasser - glaubhaft, denn das könnte in naher Zukunft ein ernsthaftes Thema für die Menschheit werden. Wenn also die Autorin noch ein wenig mehr an ihrem Handwerk arbeitet, wird das eine vielversprechende Serie mit einer thoughen Heldin.
