Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for a free e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review I was lucky enough to read an arc of A Dance of Lies last year, so when I was accepted for this I was so excited! And the book lived up to my expectations. To Dance with Death is a sensual, emotional book of love, loss, life and death and I thoroughly enjoyed myself reading it. Vasalie is such an interesting character to follow, and very inspiring; her character arc and strength is simply phenomenal. I also enjoyed Anton’s journey a lot, even if the memory loss trope isn’t my favorite (but that’s on me for picking up the book I guess, and it was handled well in this book) I will say, the book has a slow build, and given my lack of time while reading it, that made it feel a little like it dragged on, and I can’t tell if it is the book’s fault or simply the timing of me reading it on my side. Overall, a great ending to a great doulogy that leaves the important questions answered. I’d definitely recommend this series for romantasy lovers. 4.25/5
3,5* The cover is so gorgeous! And this book includes a recap of part one? I loved that! The vibe here is totally different to the first part, though. Finally, there are more fantastic elements, but it's still subtle, the world-building isn't super deep, and to be honest, the middle dragged a bit. I missed the spark from part one. That one felt so fresh and special but this one kind of feels a bit messy and chaotic. But the slow-burn tension is there and I really loved that! In total, I kept wishing for more surprises, more magic, more world-building. But the ending was very good, an emotional and satisfying conclusion. Overall, I liked it. It had a lot of good parts, but it's just not as mind-blowing as the first part.
