Ich weiß bis heute nicht, wie man einer derart schönen Geschichte ein so grauenhaftes Cover verpassen kann. Nicht in 1 000 000 Jahren hätte ich zu diesem Buch gegriffen, wenn mir nicht die E-Book-Neuauflage der Lakeview-Stories in die Hände gefallen wäre. Wirklich schade, weil dieses Buch eine Bereicherung für mich war und in meinen Augen das Potenzial besitzt, auch weitere Menschen zu begeistern. Manchmal braucht es einfach ein locker leichtes Buch, das ganz ohne spannungsgeladene Actionszenen auskommt, sondern eine sommerliche Geschichte erzählt, die aus dem Leben gegriffen scheint. Sarah Dessen hat es geschafft, die Charaktere wunderbar realistisch und liebenswert auszugestalten. Vor allem Dexter ist ein Charakter, den man einfach mögen muss. Mit seiner unkomplizierten, tollpatschigen, aber selbstbewussten Art, konnte er mir ein ums andere Mal ein breites Lächeln ins Gesicht zaubern. Aber auch Remy und ihre Freundinnen konnten mich voll und ganz von sich überzeugen. Sie wirkten echt. Keine aufgetzten Zickereien, keine erzwungenen Witze, sondern einfache Dialoge, wie sie Jugendliche tatsächlich führen, ohne irgendwelche pseudo Hipster-Wörter oder unangebracht vulgäre Ausdrucksweisen. Der gesamte Schreibstil der Autorin hat perfekt zu dieser Art von Geschichte gepasst. Er war herrlich flüssig, locker und an den richtigen Stellen mit tiefgründigeren Inhalten versehen. Vor allem das Thema Liebe wurde super ausgearbeitet und das ganz ohne Kitsch und Drama. Bisher eine der besten Bücher, die ich in diesem Genre je gelesen habe und bestimmt nicht das letzte dieser Autorin.
"Okay, so what else rhymes with potato?" 2.25 stars This was not my cup of tea, sorry. I'm not saying that's it's not a good book- if you're into romance novels, it might be just for you. It's well written, I have to admit that and in the beginning I even liked Remy. But the more I read, the more she became... not annoying. That would be the wrong word. I don't know how to describe it. I also never even started to like Dexter ot one of the other characters which I'm sure doesn't do them justice. I mean, Remy's friends and co workers are great. Plus, it didn't make me feel anything (except at times I felt bored because... nothing really happens?), I just didn't bond enough with the characters to care. But romance novels have never ever been my kinda books. I was never in it for romance alone, I always need a bit of something on the side like magic or a major rockstar career which gets in the way or something else to drive the story and accompany the romance. So I'm not really the right person to tell you if this book is worth the read for you.
