Ein beeindruckender Blick in eine mögliche Zukunft. Zum Teil beängstigend realistisch geschildert und meiner Meinung nach zu Recht eines der „Meisterwerke der Science Fiction“. Einzig die Namen und einige Bezeichnungen im Buch fand ich etwas anstrengend. Das liegt aber nun mal daran, dass die Geschichte in Thailand spielt. Ich hätte mir gewünscht , dass einige Bezeichnungen am Ende noch etwas erläutert worden wären. Wer dystopische Geschichten mag, sollte dieses Buch auf jeden Fall gelesen haben.
Sehr detailreiche Welt, bedrückendes Setting. Man braucht etwas um in den Schreibstil zu finden.
Während die ersten Seiten ohne große Einleitung und mit dem Setting entsprechend häufigen Fremdwörtern etwas holprig daherkommen, findet man bald darauf Zugang zur Welt und ihren vielen, vielen Facetten. Alles was dann folgt ist eine packende Erzählung aus einer möglich erscheinenden Zukunft, die vom Klimawandel, Ressourcenknappheit und den Folgen menschlicher Rücksichtslosigkeit verwüstet ist. Die verschiedenen Figuren wirken ausgearbeitet, haben allesamt eigene Motive und Beweggründe und passen sehr gut in den allgemeinen Erzählfluss. Als einziges Manko hätten hier und da ein paar Seiten rausgelassen werden können, um die Geschwindigkeit der Erzählung aufrecht zu erhalten.
