Lance und Kenzie waren das Traumpaar schlecht hin, doch Lance hielt es für das Beste sich vor dem College zu trennen weil die Entfernung zu groß war. Doch das ist viele Jahre her und Kenzie steht kurz vor ihrer Hochzeit mit einem anderen als sie Lance wieder trifft. Und da sie Probleme hat mit der Hochzeitslocation bietet er ihr an in dem Hotel seine Eltern zu heiraten, in ihrer Heimat Star Lake. Jetzt sind sie gezwungen eng zusammen zu arbeiten und alte Gefühle kommen auf, oder waren sie nie weg? Dies ist Band 3 des Spin Offs um die Bailey Familie und ich kann einfach nicht anders als jeden Band zu lieben. Aber diesmal bin ich mit der Geschichte nicht hundertprozentig warm geworden. Kenzie als Charakter fand ich ein wenig schwierig und das Drama um die jahrelange Funkstille war in meinen Augen absolut übertrieben. Trotzdem habe ich die Geschichte natürlich genossen und hoffe einfach, das der nächste Band wieder mitten ins Herz trifft.
Zweite Chance für die grosse Liebe
Es geht wieder zurück nach Lake Starlight und es ist schön nun die Geschichte von Lance und Kenzie zu lesen. Man hat schon ein paar Sachen über sie erfahren, aber nicht konkret, wie es dazu kam. Man könnte denken, dass Lance durch das viele Geld arrogant geworden ist, aber er zeigt immer wieder, dass er das Herz am richtigen Fleck hat und sich für andere einsetzt. Einerseits liebt er seinen Job, aber auf der anderen Seite möchte er auch mehr machen, was aber sein Großvater nicht akzeptiert. Bei Kenzie merkt man, dass sie ihren Podcast liebt und die Harmonie mit Blake passt einfach perfekt. Er ist wirklich ein guter Freund für sie. Ehrlich gesagt hat es mich schockiert, dass sie mit einem Mann wie Will zusammen ist. Seine Art und Aktionen haben mich immer wieder sprachlos gemacht. Man merkt sehr schnell, dass Lance und Kenzie noch einiges zu klären haben, aber vor allem, dass die Gefühle von damals nicht verschwunden sind. Egal, wie viel Zeit vergangen ist. Diese Verbindung, die die zwei haben, ist wirklich etwas besonderes und das merken auch die anderen aus Lake Starlight. Es ist nie leicht in einer Großstadt groß zu werden und zu leben, wenn jeder jeden kennt und somit auch Fehler und Probleme immer gleich von vielen gesehen werden. Aber man merkt auch, wie alle zusammen halten und anpacken, wenn Hilfe benötigt wird. Ich finde es immer wieder schön zu sehen, was für eine Freundschaft Lance, Easton und Brinley haben. Dass sie zusammen aufgewachsen sind und wie Drillinge gesehen wurden, macht ihr Verhältnis zu etwas besonderem. Aber egal, wie viel Streit und Stress es gibt, sie können sich aufeinander verlassen. Im Buch wird schnell klar, dass man manchmal auch getrennte Wege gehen muss um zu sehen, was wirklich wichtig ist. Außerdem sind nicht alle Entscheidungen in Stein gemeißelt und können deshalb auch geändert werden. Selbst wenn es sehr kurzfristig ist. Ich finde es schön, dass Dori trotz allem immer noch ein Teil der Bücher ist und sie immer wieder zeigt, wie gut sie ihre Familie kennt. Es ist ein ständiges auf und ab in der Geschichte und man fühlt sehr mit Lance und Kenzie mit. Jedoch hätte ich mir bei einigen Themen ein bisschen mehr Infos gewünscht. Es gibt Andeutungen, aber nichts genaueres. Ich bin gespannt, wie es in Lake Starlight weitergehen wird und freue mich, dass man in jedem Buch auch von den anderen erfährt, was sie noch erlebt haben.
This was a cute quick read! I immensely enjoyed that. And cried a bit. With runaway bride + second change there’s always a risk of the authors making a character cheat on the other. Mentally or physically. But you needn’t worry - Piper Rayne executed that trope so well. The portrayal of the characters is done amazing and the story is so well told. And no cheating. You get a „finding your back to the roots“-romance with this book. Childhood love, that never went away. Growing and finally overcoming old feuds with each other. Rekindling friendships. We follow Kenzie on her wedding planning journey for her wedding to Will. And on the other side Lance, who’s accidentally got himself the job of their kinda wedding planner and also is still in love with her. They both never got over the other and Piper Rayne tell the story of them getting closer again and realizing what they lost, when they broke up. I really liked the way the plot developed. It’s constantly progressive. None of the typical yes-no-yes-no-maybe-situation. They both, over the weeks they spend together busy with wedding preparations, find back to each other. And yes this is a slow burn, you don’t get spice until the very end (obviously, considering the tropes and I said no cheating). I laughed, cried a bit and wanted to strangle the characters several times. And I also loved, that even after they got back together it wasn’t all sunshine, like it sometimes is the case with second change. They broke up and get back together, never addressing why the initial break-up happened. Kenzie and Lance still faced some struggles in the beginning, needing to gain back their trust in each other and letting go of the past. I just wished the story would have been longer and we spend more time seeing them actively get closer again. Since this book is relatively short, the pace naturally is of the faster nature too. I think 50-100 pages more would have allowed the story to unfold a bit more organic. Overall a really enjoyable read! I devoured this in a few hours in the middle of the night, because once I started I didn’t wanna stop anymore. Recommendation for all my small town second chance fans, that are searching for a quick fast paced book with lots of romance and beautiful friendships!! 3.75
