Chris Pavone war mir bereits von seinem Buch „The Expats“ bekannt, daher wusste ich in etwa, was mir erwarten würde. So beginnt auch „Der Informant“ recht harmlos: Ein normales Leben eines normalen Ehepaars – dann die erste Überraschung, mit der die Spionagegeschichte in großen Schritten ihren Lauf nimmt. Immer mehr Geheimnisse türmen sich immer schneller vor dem Leser auf. Immer mehr skurrile Situationen durchlebt er mit den Protagonisten – oder sind es die Antagonisten? Statt Licht ins Dunkel zu bringen, führt uns Pavone tiefer und tiefer ins undurchdringliche Lügendickicht… bis die Verfolgungen ihren Höhepunkt erreichen und ganz nach Manier der großen Spionagewerke in einem actionreichen Showdown enden. Man muss dieses Genre mögen, um Gefallen an diesem Roman zu finden. Natürlich sind die Szenen sehr überzeichnet und unrealistisch (zumindest hoffe ich das). Die Charaktere sind stereotyp, nicht besonders interessant und auch sonst werden sämtliche Klischees abgegrast: schöne Frauen mit gefährlichen Waffen, brisante Informationen und hohe Summen, die dafür gezahlt werden, zwielichtige Gestalten, rasante Jagden über den ganzen Erdball. Für Liebhaber der James-Bond-Filme ist „Der Informant“ eine gute, aber etwas gemäßigtere Lektüre.
