B. A. Paris ist eine Autorin die ich sehr gerne lese und auch ohne groß zu überlegen kaufe. Und auch diesmal ist der Autorin eine spannende Geschichte gelungen, die mich überzeugen konnte. Alice und Leo ziehen in eine Wohnanlage, wobei Alice verzweifelt versucht Freundschaften zu schließen und erfährt durch eine Nachbarin was sich in ihrem Haus zugetragen hat. Jedoch merkt sie, dass die Nachbarn ein Geheimnis verbergen, sodass sie verbissen versucht die Wahrheit herauszufinden. Hier konnte man viel miträtseln und Theorien aufstellen, was Johanna und ich (@wordfulbooks vielen Dank für den tollen Buddyread mit dir ❤️) auch sehr ausgiebig getan haben. Die Atmosphäre ist sehr gelungen und diese Wohnanlage verspricht Desperate Housewives Vibes. Sowas lieb ich ja. Für mich ist ein typischer Psychothriller, wo man sich fragen muss : Wer ist Böse? Wer hängt damit drin? Was verbirgt sich hinter den Lügen? Und dann kam das Ende, was zwar schlüssig gewesen ist, aber für mich zu schnell abgehandelt gewesen ist und das leider auch nur oberflächlich. Da hätte ich mehr Seiten benötigt, aber ansonsten habe ich an dieser Geschichte nichts auszusetzen, da der Spannungsbogen gehalten wird, die Atmosphäre passend ist und man innerhalb von kürzester Zeit das Buch einfach inhalieren konnte. Wieder mal ein tolles Buch. Ich kann es euch nur empfehlen.
This was a fun thriller for in between, but nothing really stood out to me as super shocking in this one. The twists at the end were good, but I felt like the build-up for them was a bit too slow. Even though I read the book in just a few days, I felt like when I put the book down I couldn't really find the motivation to pick it back up again immediately. Part of the reason why that was the case was that I found our main character to be insufferable at times. She was so gullible (at one point she even says so herself) and it made me feel frustrated at some points because I didn't understand why she couldn't see what was going on. All that is to say that while I was reading it, I did have a good time, and the last few 50 pages were really fast-paced. I just wish the whole book would've picked up the pace a little.
