"Bis vor kurzem habe ich in einer Welt gelebt, in der Verlorenes ersetzt werden konnte. Mittlerweile aber ist mir unausweichlich klar geworden, dass alles, was man für sein rechtmäßiges Eigentum hält, verschwinden kann. Und du kannst nichts dagegen tun." Ariel Levy erzählt aus ihrem Leben. Eine bewegende Geschichte zwischen gleichgeschlechtlicher Ehe, der Kindheit in einer jüdischen Familie mit einer Mutter, die zu ihrer Ehe noch eine Beziehung führt, Kinderwunsch und Verlust des ungeborenen Kindes Affaire und der Alkoholsucht ihrer Partnerin... Das klingt durcheinander und viel und genauso ist es irgendwie auch. "Gegen alle Regeln" liest sich fließend durch und ist irgendwie bewegend, aber auch nicht so bahnbrechend, wie der Klappentext vermittelt. Dafür ist irgendwie zu Viel und gleichzeitig zu wenig Tiefe. Dennoch fand ich es einen spannenden Einblick. "Du hast eine Affäre, weil du das suchst, was du dir eigentlich von der Person wünschst, die du so sehr liebst. Damit aber brichst du ihr das Herz, und sie kann es dir nie mehr geben."
Bei diesem Buch handelt es sich um ein autobiographisches Werk der New Yorker Kolumnistin / Journalistin Ariel Levy. Ariel beschreibt ihren Weg durchs Leben, wie sie die Liebe und das Glück fand, alles verlor und lernte damit zu leben. Mir hat das Buch sehr gefallen. Es liest sich sehr leicht und schnell, man merkt, dass hier ein Profi schreibt, denn obwohl es sehr einfach gehalten ist, wirkt es persönlich und schön umschrieben. Ariels Leben ist interessant, sie hat viel erlebt und sie berichtet ehrlich von allem, auch von ihren Fehltritten. Sie beschreibt, wie sie sich gefühlt hat, als ihr Leben auseinander brach und wie sie es trotzdem schafft weiter zu machen. Ich finde das sehr beeindruckend. Es ist keine Geschichte mit Happy End, trotzdem gibt sie Hoffnung. Denn Ariel Levy hat Recht, jedes Leben endet. Ob man das nun tröstlich findet, oder nicht, ist jedem selbst überlassen, für sie war die diese Einsicht der Weg um weiter machen zu können.
