Eigentlich sind es eher 2,5 Sterne. Die abstrakten Begriffe der "Politik der Unausweichlichkeit" und der "Politik der Ewigkeit" begleiten den Leser durch das ganze Buch. Snyder verwendet sie immer wieder, um zu zeigen, wie sich so eine Art von Politik auf die Entscheidungen der jeweiligen Länder auswirkt. Diese Begriffe blieben mir bis zum Ende nicht wirklich greifbar. Auch fand ich das Buch recht repetitiv - immer wieder bringt Snyder neue Argumente, um seine Sichtweise "zu beweisen". Was mir am Buch gefallen hat, waren im Grunde genommen die Kernaussagen. Ich habe vieles über Russland und Putin erfahren, das ich nicht wusste und konnte mir ein besseres Bild der Situation machen. Der Traum von einem Eurasien den Putin hinterher jagt und dafür die EU zerschlagen möchte, der Einsatz von Bots/Cyberwar, u.a um Brexit zu beeinflussen und Donald Trump und seine Abhängigkeit von Russland. Dafür hat es sich gelohnt das Buch zu lesen, auch wenn es ein mühsames Unterfangen war.
