It is a fallout that will pit both men against Locke's own long-lost love. Sabetha is Locke's childhood sweetheart, the love of Locke's life and now it is time for them to meet again. Employed on different sides of a vicious dispute between factions of the Bonds, Sabetha has just one goal - to destroy Locke for ever.
The Gentleman Bastard sequence has become a literary sensation in fantasy circles and now, with the third book, Scott Lynch is set to seal that success.

German Review on Gosureviews After 6 years I expected a better story. Sabetha, teased in the previous two books, turns out to be a very weak and shallow character. One of the main plot lines, their "love story" just doesn't work. They don't really have any chemistry together and later in the book I actually got annoyed whenever they had a scene together. It started very strong, but the main story was utterly boring and predictable, so much that I had a hard time finishing the book. The end made up for it a little though. We get some interesting revelations there, but it's rather a setup for Scott Lynchs next book "The Thorn of Emberlain". I guess for a lot of fans who waited so long for this release it will be a big disappointment.
Actually this one was the weakest of the story so far. I liked to know a bit more of the relationship between Locke and Sabetha, but I still cannot fathom her reactions most of the time. What made the book worthwhile for me was the overall game both parties had to play with each other. I am not entirely sure, if I am happy with the outcome of the plot, but maybe the next one (whenever it is ready) sheds a bit more light on it and the consequences. *Spoiler*Especially the stuff on the last pages regarding the Falconer.*Spoiler*
