Wow! The Queen of Attolia starts with no time at all to catch your breath. Few books manage to make me cry on the first 50 pages... This one did. I have two minor qualms: One, that an important part of Eugenides' recovery happens between scenes and is not described. I would have liked to see what happens to him before he 'steals' the magus; that transformation felt a bit abrupt. And two, the ending - not with the way it ends but with the way the last page is written, which was just a bit too sweet in my taste. Still I enjoyed the Queen of Attolia so much and fell in love with the characters even more. I can't wait to read the next one.
