So this world is set in an elven city, below Chicago. So basically the lore is that humans chased elves so they had to created their own safe world below the mortal world. And there is also the fight between Gorgoyles and Elves (if I remember correctly?) and besically, during the last war, a female gargoyle gave her life for revenge and became a storm that, to be controlled chooses a "princess". And the story focuses on Marbella, the current storm princess. Marbella is about to go through the ceremony that gives her a husband because it is said that the storm princess cannot wistand the storm alone and needs to share her powers with her hasband. ANd to help with that, their is a tournament and each major and minor house can volunteer a guy to participate. But before the competition, the sotrm tells Marbella that her husband is cursed to kill her and so she decides to compete for her own hand. I honestly was so mitigated by this book. The story was compelling but I don't think it was well executed. I skimmed a lot overall, trying to get to the good parts, i don't know. I liked Marbella and Bae, by the way, I love that a main romantic interest's name is Bae, but I doubted his intentions all along until the end and that's not how I want to feel about the main love interest. I feel like the resolution was rushed and honestly, I just want to know more about the Gargoyles, which is the next book I guess but I has such a hard time getting through this one, I won't read book 2. Don't get me wring, the book isn't bad. I loved the relationship between Marbella and her Storm Command and the tournament was well done but, a lot of the time I felt like I was missing pieces or things were kind of convenient? idk, I'm still giving the book 3 stars.
