Description
Long ago and far away (and somewhere south of France) lies the kingdom of Esquaveta. There, Princess Tullia is in nearly as much peril as her struggling kingdom. Esquaveta desperately needs to forge an alliance, and to that end, Tullia's father has arranged a marriage between her and an odious prince. However, one month before the "wedding of the century," Tullia falls in love with a lowly apprentice scribe.
The king turns to Anatole, his much-maligned magician. Seventeen years earlier, when Anatole first came to the castle, he was regarded as something of a prodigy. But after a long series of failures—the latest being an attempt to transform sand into gold—he has become the object of contempt and ridicule. The only one who still believes in him is the princess.
When the king orders Anatole to brew a potion that will ensure Tullia agrees to the wedding, Anatole is faced with an impossible choice. With one chance to save the marriage, the kingdom, and, of most importance to him, his reputation, will he betray the princess—or risk ruin?

Chaos, curses, and a castle running on pure nonsense
The Magician of Tiger Castle feels like a fairy tale wandered into a fever dream and decided to stay. Everyone talks like there’s a hidden lesson somewhere, but half the time the lesson is probably, “Maybe don’t trust mysterious magicians?” The world is weird, the logic is questionable, and the characters keep accepting bizarre situations with surprising confidence. And somehow? It’s charming. You start the book mildly confused and end it emotionally invested in absolute nonsense. 🏰✨📚

Die Grundidee hinter der Geschichte fand ich cool, doe Umsetzung war leider sehr enttäuschend. Das Worlbuiliding war sehr grob, der Plot war so "hopplahopp", immer neue Ideen die dann "schnell mal" umgesetzt werden aber so richtig Spannung kam gar nicht auf. Der Schreibstil war so nüchtern und emotionslos, dass es mir völlig egal war was mit wem passiert, ich habe keinen Charakter wirklich gefühlt oder kennen gelernt. Und das Ende....naja,
Magische Geschichte und Louis Sachars Schreibstil ist einfach schön✨
Ich fand die Geschichte sehr schön, insbesondere das Ende war einfach echt irgendwie schön und traurig zugleich🥺❣️ Vor allem die Frage des freien Willen und das Thema von Freundschaft/Familie wird in diesem Buch sehr schön beschrieben und dargestellt. Es ist kein Buch bei dem man durch viel Action oder großen Spannungsbogen dranbleibt sondern eher die wundervolle Art von Louis Sacher zu schreiben und zu beschrieben (immer mit einer Prise Humor). Die kurzen Kapitel waren auch super und haben sehr gut auch zu der Erzählart gepasst! Trotzdem muss ich sagen, dass ich manchmal ein ganz wenig gelangweilt war (nicht lange oder oft aber genug um es einmal zu erwähnen). Zudem fand ich, dass man schon gemerkt hat, dass es sein 1. Buch für Erwachsene war, da man es manchmal schon auch etwas kindlich rüberkam. Bedeutet aber nicht, dass das schlecht war!

I loved this book so so much, every detail was so amazing and Anatole is just the best! I had a great team with this. I usually read romantasy, so this is a bit different but i loved every second. Go and read it if you want a heartfelt story about love, magic and everything inbetween. This showed me that adults also need magic in their lives <3
