I loved the "House of Pleasure"-series of Kate Pearce, so I was looking forward to her new release. The author correctly describes her novel as similar to "North & South" which I loved, also, so I read it in one go. :) Unfortunately, if you're looking for a similar hot read as the "HoP"-series, you might be disappointed. I think it is a great book, but it focuses more on the development the hero and the heroine go through – sometimes triggered through their times together, sometimes on their own. I couldn't get a real grasp on the romance, so that was a bit disappointing, although the read in itself was very, very good. I couldn't put it down, especially as there aren't that many novels out there focusing on the timeframe between the Regency and the Industrialisation. It was a very interesting read – and I am looking forward to the second novel! :)
